I can’t say I’ve ever been that fussed about YSL nail polishes. Their Touché Eclat? Yes. Teint Touche Éclat Foundation? I’m onboard. But their lacquer offering? Well I could take it or leave it. But after the appearance of the Rose Baby Doll Nail Lacquer* in my grasps and post-painting it on, my nonchalant feelings towards the golden topped bottles have changed. It’s a one-coat wonder. A cuticle-wide brush deposits a slick, smooth, streak-free layer of colour and you’re done. Sandwiched between CND Stickey Base Coat and Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat and we’re onto a winner. Formula aside the colour’s on point too; now I may have instagrammed the poop out of the picture but the shade’s still accurate – a rosey, reddish pink that refuses to be pigeoned-holed into a particular seasonal category; warm enough for summer, but berry enough for a winter time fingertip.
At £18 (from FeelUnique) they’re up there in the CHANEL price bracket, but formula-wise these pip them to the post, easy. CHANEL’s colour selection, with the YSL formula? Now that would be the perfect polish right there.
