It’s been 20 years since YSL first released their best-selling Touche Éclat highlighting pen, and this Summer YSL are finally launching the perfect accompaniment to it with their new Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation* and I’m happy to report that it’s been my foundation of choice this week!
Available in 22 shades, split into rose, beige and gold colour groups the unique property of the Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation is that for the first time a unique soft focus gel formula makes up the foundation which contains no opaque powders. Opaque powders are often used in foundations to make up the coverage but can lead to the skin appearing mask-like and can look ashy and discoloured especially on darker skintones. The aims of this foundation is similar to that of the Touche Éclat highlighting pen – to brighten the complexion, draw radiance to the skin and provide a transparent layer to smooth out any flaws or imperfections.
After using a sample of the shade B30 all week I’m happy to report back with good words about this foundation. Firstly the colour match is great, it feels light on the skin and blends like a dream. I’ve tried applying it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush but I actually think I prefer using my fingers. You don’t need a lot either, a little goes a long way. Now lets get a few thing straight – you are going to get a medium coverage at best with this foundation, it evens out the skin but it doesn’t add too much coverage. And secondly it’s no way near a matte formula – this gives a beautiful radiance to the skin, a slight glow, not too greasy but very natural looking. As I’m preferring a much lighter coverage and natural finish recently this foundation ticks all those boxes. The only area in which this foundation falls a little flat for me and the Jemma Kidd Light As Air Foundation still reigns supreme, is in terms of longevity. After 6 hours or so the Le Teint Teint Touche Éclat does need a bit of touching up, especially around my nose and chin where I get slightly greasier. This can sorted with a light dusting of powder but is perhaps something to keep in mind for oiler skinned gals.
This week I tended to pair the Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation with the By Terry Touchy Veloutee Concealer in a medley of French face makeup goodness. A bit of NARS Laguna on the cheeks and my base is done. For eyes I’ve been leaning towards a little more eye makeup than usual and I actually rather like it. I’ve been blending Urban Decay Toasted all over the lid and bringing it underneath then adding a touch of Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Zero for some extra definition; L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara on the lashes of course. I’ve given my lips a slick with the Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss in Intimacy* and that’s it!
The YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation will be launched on 28th June exclusively at Selfridges and Brown Thomas and then rolled out nationwide on all counters from 9th July. A 30ml bottle will set you back £28 which is actually a very reasonable price for such a high end product, making it £10 cheaper than Chanels latest foundation release.
