With another edition of ‘The Beauty Bag’ just round the corner (yes it’s basically August already), before I have a riffle through another’s makeup stash I thought you may fancy a riffle around mine. It’s no secret that I don’t often bag mine up unless I’m travelling, so I’ve grabbed all my oft-used bits and bobs and stuffed them in the cutest pouch I own that is so darn adorable it may turn me (from Whistles unsurprisingly). So here’s what my ‘makeup bag’ looks like right now. Whether it’s a lazy day, a full-on day or a filming day, this is the edit that sees me through…
FACE
On a daily basis, my current most-reached for base has to be the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser in Nude. I used this loads when I first picked up a tube two summers ago, but that was in my fake tan-heavy days, so now I’ve repurchased it in a parred back shade and it’s back in the rotation. Glowy with more coverage than your average T.M, I can see why it’s a cult favourite. For concealer I’ve been finding myself dipping into the Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Palette in No.2 which caters for me whether I’ve been on the faux glow or not. It just melts in nicely with whatever base I’m donning and keeps things quick and brush-free as it’s a dream to apply with fingers. A brush does come into play though with the CHANEL Les Bieges Healthy Glow Powder in No.20, a.k.a) the most lightest, undetectable powder of them all. Bronzer-wise I’m all about the Soap & Glory Solar Powder, a two sided compact housing a deep bronze and a lighter taupe that can be dialled up or down depending on the level of tannage I’m feeling. One swirl, two sweeps and I’m done. Finally for cheeks I’m having a bit of a moment with cream formulas (expect an edit coming soon). Clinique’s Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Robust Rhubarb is all kinds of awesome. The colour could well lead me down a path of wearing blusher everyday and the formula distributes nicely with fingertips and stays put.
EYES
It goes without saying that my brows are being beefed up with help from the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Soft Brunette and I won’t mention my love for the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen in 01 for the 10 millionth time on VDM, so I’ll just say they’re fab and leave it at that. It seems a bit bizarre to be playing with AW14 launches, but I’ve been giving a few bits from the to-be-dropped-soon collection from Clarins and it’s the Ombre Matte Cream-to-Powder Matte Shadow in Earth that’s wet my whistle. It reminds me of a shade that Victoria Beckham would rock, you know that whole ‘smokey eye in one colour’ thing. It’s one to grab fo’ sure. The Clinique Chubby Stick Tint for Eyes in Fuller Fudge is another one I’ve been getting a lot of wear from recently too. A little more iridescent than the latter, it’s a sweep on and go jobbie. I’ve been finishing that off with a layer of the L’Oreal Miss Manga Waterproof Mascara which lengthens, curls and does all those other good things that mascaras do.
LIPS
Right now I’m currently switching it up between two, which in true Anna style are very similar. Bobbi Brown Sheer Lip Colour in Peach Sorbet is the first and probably the more colour packed of the two. There’s a slight shimmer, dare I say glitter, running through it, but don’t be put off as on the lips it just transfers into a plumping/juicy effect that’s really rather nice. The NARS Lipstick in Barbarella is like the shimmer-free, slightly more sheeny, less opaque version of the previous peach and is one that I go back to every darn summer. ‘My lips but better’ goodness right there.
Don’t worry fellow nosy parkers, they’ll be a new beauty bag to riffle round the morning after tomorrow and it’s owned by one of my nearest and dearest…
