I first discovered Weekday thanks to a particularly babe-a-licious video from Barbara. She was wearing the Collarless Shirt in one of her styling videos and it’s exactly what I’d been looking for to fit the black shirt void in my wardrobe for months (I know, as if I need anymore black clothing). Slouchy, but showing a bit of neck – oh saucy. It was one of those ‘dress-up with leather trousers, dress down with jeans’ pieces that I love. Intrigued I clicked through the link on her video which lead me to a plethora of other bits on ASOS. Amongst the pieces were clean cut T-shirts, striped shirts, simple jewellery and the whole thing gave me a Shop Anomie/COS-y vibe. I was hooked. I placed an order and it arrived the next day (which also happened to be a Sunday – ASOS deliver on a SUNDAY! But that’s a rave for a whole different post)…
I went for a basics update seeing as my white and black t-shirts from last summer were looking a bit tired and yellow in the armpits. Nice. I purchased the Tank T-Shirt in Black and White and I could not be more happy with my purchases. It’s like if I’d designed my perfect T-shirt, they would look like this. The arm holes are quite large, but it’s cut high on the neck which gives a flattering illusion to the arms and the bottom seem sits just on top of the bum. Not too baggy, nor short or too tight. The viscose/polyester mix means that the fabric feels all silky and smooth and they wash up well. Let’s just say that the grey one is on my shopping list.
Along with the Collarless Shirt which I of course purchased (and wore to the London #BeautyChatLIVE – love it, it just creaseless like a beyatch), I also picked up a necklace. My neck has been pretty bare recently. I’m out of my statement necklace phase (who remembers my large ZARA neck piece collection?), but love a good dainty gold chain, though it’s tough to find ones with trinkets on that I like. The Tangle Triangle Necklace, however was exactly what I wanted. Small and with a tendency to tangle up as the name would suggest, it adds a bit of something to my neckline without being in yer face and causing a hair faff that involves me having to chop off a lock of hair to free it (true story – it’s happened).
In terms of everyday basics that aren’t too pricey, Weekday have got it down. In fact it’s all presented so beautifully that I’m even considering bootcut trousers. You can take a girl out of the ’90’s, but you can’t take the ’90’s out of the girl, eh?
