Tried & Tested: The No Blow-Dry Time Saver

IMG_0152

Recently I have become so ridiculously lazy with my hair, my routine literally just consists of shampoo, conditioner and then copious amounts of dry shampoo. It’s mainly due to the fact that I have an aversion to the bathroom at the new place, which is in desperate need of a makeover and so I try to avoid it at all costs. Nice. Because my hair doesn’t really have textural issues and is cut in a way that it looks averagely O.K if I neglect to do anything fancy with it, it’s encouraged extreme laziness. In fact, most the time my hair is slicked up into some kind of ponytail/top-knot/bun hybrid and it looks such a mess that each time the postman rings the doorbell I open it with my hood pulled up. A great first impression I’m sure. With all this in mind, when I spotted Bumble & Bumble’s Don’t Blow It (H)Air Styler – a new launch that promises ‘great hair days without the heat or hassle’ – in the basket it went.

The idea is that you wash your hair as normal and then smooth this all over, go about you day and in theory your hair should air-dry with the same texture and body you’d get from a blow-dry. Now I must preface this and say that I am the most cold-blooded person ever, if you couldn’t already tell from the fact that I rarely remove my fleecy dressing gown when I’m in the house, so I don’t air-dry my hair too much. Though when I do, it’s not awful, it just looks a bit frizzy and fried at the roots and it gets greasy very quickly. However, in the name of beauty blogging I bundled myself up on slightly chilling autumn evening to see how Don’t Blow It fared…

Despite the layers of fleece and the hot water bottle I had to take to bed with me to keep me warm, I’m actually pretty impressed with this stuff. The first thing I noticed when I put it into my lengths after washing was that it literally disappeared the moment I started working it into my locks. There’s no claggy or thick texture here. It smelt good and when my hair started to dry it just felt really, really soft; almost like I’d left some kind of conditioning mask on it. Two days passed before it got to that ‘jeez Anna, wash your darn hair‘ point which is pretty good for me when it comes to air drying, so overall I’m one happy bunny. Though I’m not the most fond of the whole damp scalp that comes with the process, so I think for me it’s going to be something that I’ll crack out in the warmer months. For now, it’s back to the hairdryer…
