Tom Ford Wild Ginger

You’ve heard it all before about the Tom Ford Lipsticks. The lip lickin’ shades, the closing click much akin to that of an expensive car door, the envious glances that occur whenever you reach for it out of your bag. And I’m here to tell you that they’re all true – well except perhaps the last one – no one makes eye contact on the tube, remember? I’ve already puckered up for their newest lip release – the Lip Colour Shines, a sheerer more everyday territory for TF, but the topic on my lips today is a slightly more daring option from their original lineup and a favourite from my oft lip product enabler, Lily. Tom Ford Lip Colour in Wild Ginger*, here’s your report…

Wild Ginger is up there in Tom Ford’s best selling shades; an almost cherry red, it’s one of those colours that looks a little different on everyone, but equally gorgeous. Once I’d got over my sadness at rubbing off the ‘TF’ inscribed nub, I found the texture to be creamy with a hint of shine, comparable to a MAC ‘Creamsheen’ finish with an extra punch of pigment. The lightweight formula means that once it’s on you forget your rocking a bright red pout – perfect for those who edge one step closer to the pack of baby wipes when lipstick is mentioned. The only downfall is lasting power. I sported this on my maiden voyage to Patty & Bun, and after I’d wolfed down a Smokey Robinson, very little lipstick remained. But that’s what you get for such a comfortably creamy formula and next time I frequent P&B I’ll opt in for a more burger-friendly lip choice.

You already know the deal – at £36 from Selfridges counters or online, these lipsticks are wholeheartedly reserved for or Birthday lists, Christmas lists or days when you’re feeling a bit spendy. Which is a mood I can veer myself into quite easily – quelle surprise. Perhaps I just need to expand my TF colour collection today…
