Things To Add To Your US Beauty Shopping List

IMG_7889

Us Brit beauty gals can get a little envious of you lot the other side of the pond sometimes; you know the ‘grass is greener’ and all that. Target, Ulta, CVS, Sephora are all places we visit nightly in our dreams (no just me?). Well here’s where a friend housed left of the Atlantic comes in handy. Enter Sandra, my Canadian beauty BFF and barer of the best set of cheekbones ever bestowed on humankind. We play cosmetic swapsies from time to time and the contents of her last package was so darn good that every single item deserved to be put into the ‘add to your overseas shopping list’ category. Thanks gurl! So here they are. Pen and paper at the ready…

Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette. 16 colours, eight matte, eight shimmer; housed in a slim, ridiculously chic looking compact – this may just be my favourite eyeshadow palette ever. Ever since it popped through my letterbox I’ve worn it everyday, using the lighter shades as a barely-there wash and the deeper shades when I fancy something a little more ‘hello I’m here’ on the eyes. The shades had me sold anyway, but the buttery, melt into the lids formula just cemented it. I could write a dissertation length ode to why I love this so much. In fact, look out for that tomorrow…

Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye-Enhancing Shadow & Liner Nude Collection. I reckon this is the most compact, yet practical way I’ve ever seen nine shades of eyeshadow clubbed together in one palette. Be prepared for a bit of shimmer here, but in a subtle non-glitterball way. The lighter colours work well thrown on with a fluffy brush, but for the thinner ‘eyeliner’ stripes use a dampened liner brush to really eke out of the pigment.

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon in Brown(Out). A chocolate-y brown shade with hint of golden shimmer running through it – this is exactly how I like my eyeliners. Creamy, smooth and with that whole ‘blendable for a few seconds before drying so it does not budge’ property I really like this formula. I’m always hasten to throw around the word ‘waterproof’ when it comes to eyeliners, but I reckon this is as close as it gets.

BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask. The leave-on lip mask that smells and actually tastes good enough to eat. Trust me I’ve tried. At its foundations it’s a vanilla-scented, kinda thick, super nourishing balm that stays on so well I can apply it at night and still feel it getting to work the following morning. I’ve been throwing it on twice a day, once pre-makeup and once before bed and I have to say my lips are in good condition – gone is their resemblance to a prune.

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Colour in Purty Persimmon and Just Peachy. High-pigment, matte formula lipsticks that when I swatched them on the back of my hand took two days to wear off. Seriously. Purty Persimmon is a red hot, tomato-y colour that is right up my street, whereas Just Peachy is a classic peach/pink/nude hybrid that looks even better smooshed over the top of the BITE Beauty product. Yep, smooshed is technical term in my vocabulary.
