An ‘Autumn Beauty Edit’ is in the works, but while you pace impatiently for that I thought this weekend I’d share my favourite mani shades that are top of my pile right now. The pastel hues of summer have long been gone on my tips and for the past few weeks the following five have been on repeat – along with a handful of others that deserve dedicated blog posts of their own. Keep an eye out for those. Any guesses? But I do love a dark nail. Toe or finger? Heck I lacquer up both with the stuff. So here’s my serving of my autumn mani must-haves:
Nails Inc Nail Polish in Victoria – the ultimate black cherry. Deeper in tone than Essie’s Sole Mate, but still with that red wine quality that looks full-on black in some lights and burgundy in others. Sometimes these vampy shades can be a little troublesome to apply but I find a good duo coat of this does the job and sticks around for a while longer than the rest.
& Other Stories Nail Colour in Scarlett Red – this is probably my favourite of the pack. It’s sat quietly in my collection since purchase but after painting it on by chance a few weeks back I have fallen in love. A straight up red, which doesn’t lean too dark nor bright and it coats on colour in just one layer. The wide-set brush is pretty awesome too. Rave done – over and out.
Rococo Nail Apparel in Pony Club* – a purple-tinged greige? You know I’m all over that. Pony Club is fresh from Rococo’s autumn drop and from the newly released quad this was the one that instantly made its way onto my fingers. It reminds me of Essie’s Merino Cool – a fall favourite of mine from last year.
Butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Giddy Kipper* – there was a scrap between this and Nails Inc’s Baker Street for the top royal blue spot, but Giddy Kipper just inched ahead with it’s slightly more subtle tones (and kick-ass name). It’s more of a denim blue that isn’t too bold, but still gives a nod to its primary family and there’s a slight silver shimmer running through it too which usually I’m dead set against, but it gives it an interesting edge when painted on.
Butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in Poole* – my muted mint pick for those who just aren’t ready to ditch the aqua tips just yet *raises hand*. It’s still Essie Mint Candy Apple-like in nature but just a tad toned down; with not as much of a white-base to it which makes more autumn appropriate. Next stop – khaki.
Only one question remains – what colour to paint on today? Answers on a postcard in the comments.
