A few weekends ago Lily and her other half took me and my guy half a day-long London jaunt. There were big views, even bigger pizzas and while the boys lagged behind mumbling about bikes, Lily and I nattered all things beauty (of course), up front. I ended up lugging my camera around for the day so I thought I’d rope Lily into a impromptu shoot for the blog, art directed by the boys who hilariously got quite into it, barking their instructions. After a day of trekking (thank gawd I opted for my only pair of flats, my Converse), we both required a touch-up sesh, so here’s what we grabbed…
First-up though – what we were workin’ with. Lily’s makeup for the day followed her hands-on makeup menu, and I opted for a buffing-brush free application too. Basing up with Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser in Bisque and Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer in Sand, sorting my brows into place with Hourglass’ Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil in Medium Brown, a bit of MaxFactor’s False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara and whatever lipbalm was swimming around in my makeup bag and I was set for my sightseeing day.
Touch-up-wise we both reached for two products; one to perk up our complexions and a sheer slick for the lips. Lily went for a little of Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge in Pretty Powerful for a pinch of colour to her cheeks. Then she ramped-up the colour stakes with YSL’s Rouge Volupté Shine in 19 that had me bulking in the bullet but wears to a wash of fuchsia on the lips – it was a Lisa Eldridge inspired experiment, after her pink lip tutorial so I was told. My choice for pepping up my face was CHANEL Les Beiges in B20, which has now reached permanent handbag residency status. Not too drying or too matte, it just adds an oomph of coverage with a barely there radiance. Love, love, love. Lips were taken care of by Tom Ford’s Lip Colour Shine in Insidious*, a coral with a slight shimmer that layers on just the right balance of sheen and pigment.
Touch-ups aside, I’m all for beginning the petition to get Lily posting London themed features. Where to get the best views of the city, the restaurant gems, even the stand where Harry Styles gets his crepe fix – I’m telling you this girl knows all the good spots.
