The Weekend Post #27: Holiday Heros

Honeys I’m home! I’m officially back after two weeks gallivanting around in Florida and back on UK soggy soil. No more bikini-clad Instagram shots and Lucky Charms cereal I’m afraid, but before I get back to business it’s time for a little run-down of my holiday hero beauty products. Call them ‘the essentials’ if you will, these are the bits that saved my pinky limbs, Monica-esque hair and dull complexion…

The Origins Vitazing SPF 15 is something that I have had in my collection for well over a year now and use pretty frequently, but this holiday it came into it’s own. I barely wore makeup and this became my primary base adding a touch of colour to my face and a dash of moisture to my air-conditioned stripped skin. Another skincare favourite had to be the Caudalie Beauty Elixir – what is an Anna favourites post or video without it these days? I used it as a makeup refresher, toner and all round feel-good spray. I think I must have spritzed it around 30 times on the bumpy, turbulance ridden flight home! A bodycare must-have was the Clarins After Sun Moisturiser Self Tanning Lotion. Now this isn’t the cheapest aftersun out there, but I’d say that this was the stand-out product of the holiday for me. It soothed my skin after I’d been out in the sun and added a hint of tan; I tended to apply this every evening and woke up each morning looking a little more bronzed. Plus, it smells rather fab too – I used a whole bottle up in two weeks. For my hair I mainly used two products for the duration of my stay – the Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment and the Phyto Phytoplage Hair and Body Wash. The humidity made my hair go wild (see here for a pic) but a generous gloop of the Macadamia Oil through the lengths solved that problem and my Monica from Friends hair was kept at bay for the rest of the holiday. And the Phyto Phytoplage Hair and Body Wash did a great job of getting the chlorine and nasties out of my hair, making it feel squeaky clean and keeping it rather nourished – something else that I ended up using the whole bottle of! A bit miscellaneous but the Soap & Glory Hand Maid Anti-Bacterial Gel came in really handy when applying suncream on the go to keep your hands nice and grease-free. Also great for travelling and just generally having in your bag for emergencies. Then just two makeup products made the cut! Like I said, I didn’t really wear makeup too much but when I did the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 02 and the Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser in Glow were the first things I picked up. The Clarins adds a gorgeous peachy nude sheen to my lips and the Chantecialle evened out my complexion giving my skin a dewy, luminous appearance – perfect for sunnier climates.

Right now it’s time for me to unpack and find a home for all my new makeup – ah dear! But if any of you are off on your hols or even just if the UK finally decides to heat up then I highly recommend this list of products. What are your holiday heros?
