The Tom Ford Lipstick Wardrobe

I don’t think there’s a luxer lipstick offering out there than Tom Ford. Sleek formulas, in on-point shades that you just can’t walk past without having a cheeky swatch of and all wrapped up in packaging that’s almost too swish to store away. They never disappoint. And actually amongst my lipstick stash they’re some of my most-worn. I think it’s down to the click, it’s all about the click – oh and the smell and the TF-embossed tops and the creamy texture – you get the point. Recently I’ve become rather fond of a duo that I’ve dubbed the ‘Tom Ford Lipstick Wardrobe’; a nude and a red that can be interchanged for barely-there daytime definition and a loud evening pout that cater to every makeup menu eventuality…

Tom Ford Lip Colour in Pink Dusk: It may not look much in the tube – but that’s the whole point. Pink Dusk falls into the cliché ‘My Lips But Better’ category, or M.L.B.B as it is more widely known. A slightly more pinky version of MAC’s Patisserie; it bridges the gap between that and my old favourite MAC Creme Cup shade, which leant a tad more pastel pink. It’s creamy, shimmer free and can be built up to an opaque layer of colour or dabbed on for a more subtle wash. Are there a million and one other shades out there that perform the aforementioned functions? Yes. But are there any others that make you want to don a tailored suit, shake out your hair and dose yourself in a musky fragrance à la the Tom Ford woman? No I think not.

Tom Ford Lip Colour in Wild Ginger: Oh hello you little red bullet stunner. Tom gives us the choice of a handful of reds in his range, but this is by far my favourite. A tomato red with a hint of orange, I propose that this shade would look gorgeous on every complexion; it’s just one of those eye whitening, pupil brightening, suits all colours. The texture gives off a slight juicy sheen which I’m usually opposed to when it comes to bold lips, but I combat this with an apply-blot-reapply-blot again routine that seems to stick things in place for a fair few hours. I’ve given it the burger test and though there’s some rubbing off that occurs, it’s easily slapped back on with its no-drag, slippy formula. Just picture me slapping it back on in the middle of ShakeShack. It happened.

Next on my list – Spanish Pink – then my Tom Ford Lipstick wardrobe will truly be complete. Someone restrain me…
