Do you have one of those ongoing shopping lists that never actually makes it round to being purchased because the contents of it are a little mundane? Mine currently looks a little like this: black vest tops, pants, socks, yawn. I’ve got the same sort of list going on beauty-wise featuring ol’ faves that cause me to begin to flap a little once they become low. Not the most exciting of purchases, but the fact that you almost need two hands to count how many times I’ve repurchased some of these surely pushes them onto HG pedestal status? Here’s my most recent restock…
First up, Xen Tan’s Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe – around my fourth tube of the stuff. When it comes to faux tanning nothing comes close; St Tropez doesn’t have the lasting power, the Vita Liberata bits I’ve tried have been distinctively average and I go through a can of the Garnier spray in one use. But this Xen-Tan formula squashes all of my moans with a long-lasting subtle wash of holiday-esque colour. Load me up. Another product on its fourth whirl is Bumble and Bumble’s Sunday Shampoo. Now I’m completely digging their Surf Wash Shampoo, but sometimes I can be a lazy mare and after my hair has managed to dodge a wash that’s way overdue, this comes into the lineup to give it a good cleanse. One quick lather and I feel human again. Thinking aloud here, but I’m not quite sure if I’ll ever be without this in my haircare arsenal.
A summer repurchase that is fast becoming an annual thing is Institute Esthederm’s Adaptasun Tanning Body Lotion. Under my layers and layers of Xen-Tan Dark Lotion Absolute Luxe I’m a pale little soul so some sort of sun protection becomes my bezzie mate when the rays make an appearance. I’m still pretty baffled by the science behind this, but the layman’s description is that it works at a cellular level to retrain the skin to defend itself yet tan quickly. I used the Extreme Sun version in Florida last year and didn’t burn once – unheard of for me who usually can’t lay on their back by the second day of holiday. Rounding off the restock is Therapie’s Himalayan Detox Salts, which have fast become my new favourite thing that I like to drop in a weekly mention of on the blog, so I’ll keep it short. A good nights sleep in bath salt form – yep I think that sums it up.
Beauty non-negoiables purchased, now I really must sort out my lack of pants…
