It’s very easy to ramble on about new products that we’ve tried, tested and loved. But what about those old fav’s that we rely on everyday – they deserve a mention too! It dawned on me the other day that I have never done a full-blown post dedicated to what is probably the only constant in my makeup bag. I have repurchased it around 4 times now and dutifully apply it every morning; if you look in the info bar of any of my videos you will 100% see ‘L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara’ scrawled down. I’ve breifly spoken about it many a time, but after having a good lash day today, it was time to take a snap and enter full-on raving mode….
Now as a general rule I’m a big fan of waterproof mascaras. They hold a curl a million times better than their non-waterproof counterparts and are much less likely to leave you with a panda-eye effect. Naturally my eyelashes point down to the floor, kind of like an elephant – I would function very well in a sandy desert. So I look for mascaras that hold my lashes up, lenghten and add a touch of volume. The L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof ticks all the boxes. I curl my lashes with my Shu Uemura eyelash curler in the morning, apply 2 coats of the mascara and my lashes look nice and fluttery all day. For a longevity reference check out the photo above after about 12 hours of wear. It’s a plastic brush which isn’t to everyones taste, but I find that it gives a nice balance of seperation and volume. Price-wise it usually retails at around the £13ish mark, but you can sometimes get it on offer; also note that doesn’t dry out and one tube lasts me around 6 months. One thing that people always ask me is how to remove this mascara. Now as it’s waterproof, a simple hold and wipe job isn’t going to work here. I use either baby wipes or the Bioderma Crealine H2O Cleansing Solution on a cotton pad – fold the wipe or pad in half and get your lashes inbetween, give a gentle rub and the mascara should start to come off. It just takes a bit of practice!
I have also tried L’oreals new formulation of this mascara the ‘False Lash Telescopic’ and it’s a non from me. It gives huge amounts of volume, but doesn’t hold a curl at all. The result was big voluminous lashes, drooping towards the floor. Not great, but see I always come back to the L’oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
