So even though I’m becoming an (almost) everyday eyeshadow wearer, that doesn’t mean that I’ve managed to master the lid/crease/highlighter multi-step eye look thang on a regular basis. Ain’t nobody got time for that. On the odd occasion I whip out an arsenal of brushes, colours and textures and get to work, but in the mornings it’s much more likely that I grab one colour, smudge it out, blend over the lids and lashlines, brush on mascara and call it a day. I dub this makeup phenomenon a ‘one wash wonder’ and there are a few shadows in my stash which work particularly well in this task. Case in point…
The Body Shop Colour Crush Eyeshadow in Bronze Bliss* – a golden amber that can be subtly swept over or built up to an intense jewel-like lid. I particularly like this one blended a little on the lower lashline to give some oomph or all over, as demonstrated here.
Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze – this possesses the most metallic sheen of the bunch but the off-taupe tones just do it for me. Plus you’ve got to love a cream; a natural texture and without the need for a brush – eyeshadow application is even easier.
MAC Eyeshadow in Era and Soba – both of these shadows are the boss of the one sweep wonders. Not too much shimmer and not too far away from my natural skintone, they define without looking too obvious. The effect is a worn-in eye, that looks like a natural shadow – the epitome of no makeup, makeup.
NARS Eyeshadow in Ondine – this holds the title in my stash for one of my longest serving shadows; I’ve had it for yonks. A taupe tinged with purple, you can see it in action here. Paired with a bronze liner to warm it up a little, it’s a good;un, especially for green eyed gals.
One wash and go. Everyday eyeshadow – done.
