If there’s one step in my skincare routine that I now couldn’t imagine being without (aside from the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel – I’ve got two bottles of it in my back-up drawer, but more on that another day), then it’s oils. When I first got into skincare, post the early face-wipe days, I was cautious of spreading such a viscous thing all over my face with the intended purpose of moisture. I picked up bottles emblazoned with ‘oil-free’ on the side and preferred formulas tailored to combination skins, but as I’ve got older and begin to look in the mirror and prod and poke these new folds and creases that are cropping up on my complexion I’ve realised that oils really are the juice of my routine. The stuff that keeps things looking plump, hydrated, dewy and fresh. In the mornings if I’m having a makeup-free day I use the Sarah Chapman Skinesis Morning Facial and in the evenings I go for MV Skincare Rose Plus Booster, always. However, recently I’ve discovered a range that gives the aforementioned a little boost…
It’s from a brand called Odacité (I’m sure I’ll have fun trying to pronounce that in a future video) and they have dreamt up a line chocker full of pure plant boosters; little vials of oil designed to target a particular concern that you can add to your current oils or AM/PM moisturiser to amp up its properties. I LOVE the idea of playing scientist in your bathroom and have had a lot of fun experimenting with the two that I’ve got. My inner Science geek is positively giddy.
The first one I’ve given a go is the Clogged Pores Serum Concentrate that is packed with Jojoba and Lavender Oil. While it worked a treat when I used it as a ‘spotty area-only’ treatment, all over, especially on my cheeks which are sensitive souls, the Lavender Oil made me look a little rouge. It’s not the most agreeable oil with me. However, the Vital Glow Concentrate, with its main component of Wild Carrot Seed Oil is awesome. I tend to mix this in with my MV Skincare Oil in the evening and it just gives it a smidge more slip in application and radiance in my face the next morning. I’ve also been using it neat (recommended for only when you want a more concentrated dose of the stuff) and my, my it’s beautiful. My skin just glows.
Prices range from £21 to £46 and they’re available from Cult Beauty. Wanna know what’s next on my shopping list? The Sensitive Skin Concentrate, the Eye Contour Serum and the Hydrating Serum Concentrate. The list could basically include the whole range, but I’ll leave it there…
