The ‘Not-Too-Sickly’ Pastel Polishes To Paint On This Weekend

IMG_8442

Right now I’m in the middle of a nail polish obsession. If I’m not buying bottles of it, then I’m thinking about what colour I want to paint on next (though it’s usually a re-paint of what I’ve already got on) or planning my next purchase. I go through fits and starts with lacquer and it’s fair to say that right now I’m definitely having a bit of a ‘moment‘. My current genre of shades that I’m into  can be firmly classified as pastel; the closer to white the better in my books. Now they’re not the easiest of colours to work with. Most require three coats (all that I mention below did), a steady hand and a bit of patience to wait for each layer to dry between stroking it on. It’s not fast work and that’s why I thought I’d go through my favourite ‘not too sickly sweet’ or über girlie shades today as it’s a time-zapping task that’s perfect for a Sunday…

THE MINTNails Inc The New White Nail Polish in Swan Street. Yes, yes – this one again, but it’s this year’s top mint hue; and the winner of the 2015 VDM Mint Nail Polish of the Year is…. It’s seriously pale and is one of the trickier ones to apply, but is well worth the extra work and is probably one of my favourite ones of the five to wear because it truly is a cream with just a drop of green added into the mix.

THE PINKEssie Nail Polish in Fiji. This gets cracked out around this time all year and each time I swear and shake my fist through application as I forget at what a streaky little sneaky beyatch it can be. I’m sorry Fiji, but you make up for it because I love the finished look. It wouldn’t be out of place in the Nails Inc The New White Collection actually because like Swan Street, it’s got that whole ‘white, with a drop of colour’ thing down.

THE BLUEBarry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Eat My Dust. This is the colour that I truly can’t stop wearing. I’ve basically been donning this for the past month without a break because I just love it that much. It’s a cornflour blue that’s got a bit of lilac in and if I wasn’t so into the colour, then the formula would make me fall in love with it anyway because it just dries so quickly. Like blink and it’s touch dry.

THE LILACSoigne Nail Polish in Lavande. Out of the five, this one layered up well with two coats and didn’t really need the third one that I threw on for luck. This is like a parred back lilac that doesn’t have too much pink in it, so is pretty toned down in terms of purples. It’s one that I wore a lot last year and after I take these colours off, I reckon Barry M’s reign is over and Lavande is going on.

THE NUDECHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Frenzy. This one is for the all the peeps out there that can’t quite stomach a coloured pastel, but fancy something a little lighter on their nails right now. It’s like a sand beige with a hint of grey that’s a little warmer than the other polishes that I own. It’s pretty unique, but chic. I mean, common – it’s CHANEL darling.

For nude nail lovers like myself, this should give you a bit of inspiration to rock something a little more spring-like on your digits for the next few weeks. But it’s cool, Nails Inc Porchester Square is a year-round people pleaser in my eyes.
