The Natural Brow Secret. Shhhhhh!

Isn’t it crazy to think that a few years ago we just didn’t do anything to our brows, beside plucking them into the thinnest line of brow hairs possible? Madness, right? It just wasn’t really a thing. There were barely any products dedicated to them apart from tweezers and we certainly didn’t use the term ‘brows on fleek‘; the latter word being one that Mark truly can’t understand and thinks is French.

Call it the Cara D effect or whatever, but finally naturally hairy, big browed gals around the word can rejoice and say goodbye to the daily grind of extreme plucking in a magnified mirror. Now I keep my brows in check with a monthly visit to the threaders and plucking every few days to tidy things up. Although my brows are naturally beefy, one is a little fuller than the other and my arches can do with a bit of oomph-ing, so whenever I’m wearing makeup I make sure to add in the step of a brow pencil just for a bit of extra definition. It’s a step that I don’t mind and right now, the Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Sepia or Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Long-Wear Brow Pencil in Slate are floating my boat. However there are those ‘no makeup, makeup’ days, mostly at the weekend, when I just don’t want to do any beauty step that takes longer than about five sections and all the brushing and filling and combining and blending does, so I went on a search for something simpler to sort me out brow-wise on lazy days…

I FOUND IT! Brow mascaras. They’re not a new thing, but it’s taken me a while to find a formula that isn’t crispy or too thick. It’s another Bobbi Brown product – their Natural Brow Shaper in Slate. The wand is fine, so you don’t end up painting goop on your skin surrounding your brows and once brushed through with a clean spoolie after application you can’t even see that it’s there, it just leaves a thin coat of colour over the hairs that makes them look subtly thicker. Again like their Brow Pencil it’s delightfully cool-toned in shade – major props for that.

I did recently purchase the L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Medium/Dark too, which I’ve heard good things about. The wand is even thinner, though the colour a little darker. Swings and roundabouts you know? I’ll keep you updated on that one. But for lazy, CBA days, my brows will no longer be patchy caterpillars on my face flowing in the wind. Brow mascaras – you’re in.
