The NARS Lip Pencil Haul

IMG_9121 NARS Lip Pencils

There are three things in life that I think it’s worth paying the money for: The Collective Diary Yogurts (the Russian Fudge flavour is just so dreamy), good quality toilet roll (a realisation I didn’t have until I used the worst toilet roll of life that kept disintegrating) and the NARS Lip Pencils. The latter come in at at £18 and I would quite happily pay over and above that to get my hands on these long-lasting sticks of lip colour goodness. Currently owning most of the shades of the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils that I wish to, I thought it was time to move on to a different formula – the Satin Lip Pencil.

Of course while perusing the NARS counter, there wasn’t just one colour that caught my eye – there was three. I put it to an Instagram vote and it seems like the majority of you are girls after my own heart and responded with a ‘just get all three’ solution to my problem. So that I did and I’m very happy with my purchases so far which are Luxembourg, Majella and Palais Royal (from left to right in all the pictures above).

Colour-wise I’m in love. Luxembourg, which is the brightest of the three, is a perky pinky red which I wish I had picked up in the summer because I would have worn it solidly for about three months. A deep rouge is Majella which gives a more burgundy take on the classic red. Though the one that stands out to me is Palais Royal which not only had the grandest name, but is the most unique colour of the three. A dark purple, plum – it’s the cheats way to rocking a vampy shade.

Let’s talk texture. These aren’t necessarily glossy, but more creamy. They glide onto the lips, are rich and opaque in their colour deposit and the level of moisture means that these don’t make your lips a bit prune-y like the matte version. With this moisture though comes a longevity issue and though they don’t end up smeared across your face in a matter of minutes they don’t last hours like their matte stick sisters. Depending on what activity you’re partaking in they’re going to need an hourly-ish mirror check. With this in mind I propose that the perfect bold lip combo would be a Velvet Matte Lip Pencil as the base layer, with a touch of a Satin Lip Pencil on top to add a bit of lively sheen to the lips, because you can never have too many NARS Lip Pencils in your life, right?
