Warm neutral mattes? I’m in…
I’m in the midst of filming a ‘New-In Beauty Launches’ video where I give five new makeup releases a go over the course of a week – you know the drill. I’ve tried to switch it up a bit and do it more vlog-style, so you’ll see that in about two weeks time if it all goes to plan. So far I’ve been pretty unimpressed with the offering, but there is one thing that has wowed me and surprise, surprise – it’s a ZOEVA Eyeshadow Palette again.
These seem to be the only new beauty launch that I really get excited about, which is odd for me because I’m not a traditional shadow wearer day-in-day-out, but ZOEVA always seem to hit the nail on the head when it comes to quality and colour and this Matte Palette is no exception. It’s the same set-up as their other palettes; 10 buttery-soft shadows, in shades that you actually want to wear for a complete bargain. This is up for sale now on their website for £17.50 and I’m sure it will be up on all the U.K retailers soon for around the same price. I mean it’s just a little more than what my Five Guys order comes to (yes I now compare all purchases to the price of a burger, because I’m sure I will soon turn into one because I eat so many).
As the name would suggest, everything in here is a matte, but there ain’t no powdery, uneven formulas to be seen here. Let’s give each colour a break-down, old-skool blogger style, shall we? Top row, furthest left Nighthawks is a bone beige, that isn’t my favourite from the palette, but I love Urban Culture that’s the camel brown next to it. Through The Window is a burnt orange which looks equally eye-catching and unwearable but personally I like it as a pop of colour in the centre of my lid. Cheap Bar is a brown with some serious red tones going on in it and Lost In Thoughts is a milky coffee shade that I can see me getting a lot of wear out of.
Talking about the bottom row now, Across The Street is a nice one to pop all over the lid pre-colour to even everything out and Eerily Empty is a fab MAC Saddle dupe. I’m loving the red, Chat Late At Night, which works well layered with other shades to bring down the ‘Pink Eye’ factor. I’m not huge on purples so I don’t see me getting much use out of Lonely City unless it’s as a bit of a lower-lash line smudger and finally Two Clocks is a deep black-brown that is great to use as an eyeliner.
Overall, it’s just a fab palette for a fab price. I don’t really even bother much with any other eyeshadow selections these days. It’s either a cream eyeshadow, my little MAC duo or one of the ZOEVA palettes. Simples. Now with all that talk of burgers, is it too early to grab one already? Is it ever too early for a burger?
