So my office and the kitchen are currently the only two places in the flat that are basically 100% there. The other rooms either need a complete refit (hey bathroom – I’m looking at you!) or we’re still the get the final furnishings to finish things off. Our living room falls in the latter category, so today I thought I’d share our wish-list of items I think would round things off nicely…
HAY Tray Table. We first set eyes on these back in their store in Bath when we visited last year and although we fell in love with pretty much the whole store, it was this table in a duck-egg blue colour that we added to our ‘Must Buy in the Future‘ list. Unfortunately they don’t have an online store in the UK, but they do take telephone orders. I have a feeling on our next trip to Bath we’ll be coming home with an extremely full boot.
West Elm Mid-Century Turned Leg Planters. The living room is in need of some major foliage and before Mark fills the one spare corner with a record deck, I’m planning on sneaking a plant in there first. Shhhhhh. Something big and green and leafy. Of course it needs a planter to sit in and I’ve been eyeing up this one on West Elm for yonks. The issue is that it’s ridiculously pricey, so if anyone has any less wallet-walloping suggestions then I’m all ears.
Large White & Gold Deer Head. I tweeted before Christmas that I really wanted a faux Deer Head to go over the TV (just to even things out with our massive bookcase that towers on the other side of the fireplace) and though at first Mark was resistant, he’s coming round to the idea. I think it will be a good/hilarious talking point when people come to visit. I love this one from Etsy, but I’m determined to rustle up a do-it-yourself one for a fraction of the price.
Crystallize Wall Art from Minted. One thing that we’ve really taken our time with in the flat is purchasing art and prints to hang on the walls. We didn’t want to rush and just stick stuff up there for the sake of it, but alongside having a rummage around some local places I spotted this print online and I’m obsessed with it. It might not be perfect for the living room though, so I’m thinking this might look best over our bed, maybe? Either way, it’s happening.
Plants For Our Terrarium & Coffee Table Stuff. You know those ‘How to Style a Coffee Table‘ posts that seem silly because you just have to move it out of the way on a Friday night when you’re having a pizza party in the front room? Well I feel like I need to take note of them because our coffee table is extremely empty (and we haven’t ordered Domino’s so far this year still!), as is this terrarium that we purchased from West Elm months ago now. Time to get some little bits and bobs and books to spice things up.
