Lily and I might have only visited L.A for the week, but it genuinely feels like we’ve been here for months. Once the jet lag wore off we spent our days exploring, eating, shopping, eating some more and feeling like an extra in an episode of The Hills. In fact I’ve had ‘Unwritten’ playing in my head for the past seven days. I’ve also quite literally taken enough photos to fill an Instagram feed for a whole year so please do excuse the picture heavy post, but as we’re heading home today I thought I’d do a little round-up of our trip, soon to be followed by a ‘Get Ready With Me’, L.A Vlog and a little ‘What I Wore’ thang. You’ll never want to hear the word ‘L.A’ ever again by the end of next week…
WHERE WE VISITED: For our stay in Hollywood, we headed to The Chamberlain which I’d happily recommend. Ridiculously spacious rooms and we never paid more than $10 for an Uber so it was a good spot to get around from. Little Tokyo was makeup shopping heaven – especially for mascaras and the Art’s District was ready-made for wandering and snapping outfit pictures – a very cool spot. My favourite place we headed to though was the Venice Beach/Abbot Kinney area which had the famous beach and little canal area and a road with shops, restaurants and bars on that felt like a more upmarket Shoreditch.
WHERE WE SHOPPED: The first place we headed was The Grove where there’s a Disney-esque street of beauty and fashion shops and mine and Lily’s favourite place in the world (probably) The Container Store. If you like organisation then I guarantee that you will never want to leave that place. Across the road there’s a Whole Foods and CVS so you can easily spend the morning there. Mall-wise Century City which is where we held our #BeautyChatLIVE event at, was pure heaven. It’s outdoor, roomy and has a pretty decent Sephora; though if you’re looking for the best one then that’s got to be their newly launched store in Beverly Hills. Oh my word. Poketo in the Art’s District was marble stationery heaven and Abbot Kinney also houses a short strip of retail spaces that will make you want to drop some serious dollar.
WHERE WE ATE: Aside from the people, the food was by far my favourite part of L.A. On the first day we lucked out with a trip to Umami Burger that was probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten (I got the Ahi Tuni FYI). Also on our first day we headed to Joan’s on Third that was a lovely little lunch spot. Mendocino Farms do amazing sandwiches – and I’m not even much of a sandwich kinda gal! Lemonade do, as expected, pretty incredible lemonade. We met the lovely Sandra and her boyfriend at The Tasting Kitchen on Abbot Kinney which ended up being one of my favourite places for dinner. I ate so much I sprouted a full-on food baby. We unfortunately didn’t get the chance to go to SUGARFISH, a sushi place which was recommended to us by just about everyone, so I think a visit to that in itself is well worth the trip back here. Right?
