‘Is Halloween on 31st October?‘, is genuinely a question I asked Mark earlier this week. That is how high this occasion is on my list of priorities. Whenever it swings round and slaps me in the face I’m never prepared, the shops are all sold out of anything that’s remotely scary and I’m left with a wonky pair of cat ears from years ago that I found under my bed as my ‘costume‘. So if like me you’re a bit of a last minute Halloween planner I’ve cobbled together a list of looks that you’ll be able to rustle up in time for tonight, no extra purchases necessary…
1. Sugar Skull. This is what I plumped for last year and managed to do a look that somewhat resembled this one using just a small container of white face paint I picked up from ASDA for £1 and a combination of lipsticks, eyeliners and eyeshadows to add in the colour. Of course the white face paint is probably something you won’t have hanging around but you could create your own combination by mixing a white eyeshadow with the palest foundation you own.
2. Shattered Glass. Good ol’ Katie created this look with just a black gel eyeliner, a white eyeliner and an eyeliner brush. Simples. Slightly spooky and so easy to do. Pair with a black outfit for ultimate face paint impact.
3. A Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Combo. Refinery 29 have some of the most original, best costume ideas that I’ve seen and out of this collection I’d say that the easiest one to pull together is the ‘Miley Cyrus though the years’ option. A split of Hannah Montana and the Wrecking Ball look, hammer licking antics optional.
4. Bambi. Doesn’t this one look cute? A fawn-ish take on a smokey eye; you’ll already have everything required in your kit. The good thing with this one is there isn’t really much of a costume for it. Pop on a makeshift tail perhaps and when people question your outfit choice just flutter those eyelashes.
5. Pop-Art Character. Now this does too require some kind of white pigmented medium and though face paint is the easiest and quickest method, there’s nothing to say that a white eye pencil won’t do. Just add a bit of red lippie, black eyeliner, eyeshadow and you’re done. It’s basically just your everyday face with some white dots drawn on. Easy peasy.
See? No need to dust off the wonky cat ears.
