Ready for the monthly drop of all things sweaty? Say hello to May’s instalment which includes a falafelicious lunchtime recipe, my current Instagram and Snapchat girl crush and a spring drop one from one of my favourite activewear brands…
THE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO FOLLOW – I’m a bit of a Hannah Bronfman fangirl right now. Her Instagram is a nice mix of all things pretty, but I love her website and her snapchat (Hannahbgood) too. She tends to snapchat recipes and her workouts which always get me in the mood to sweat. Serious *insert peach emoji* goals.
THE RECIPE THAT’S WORTH A WHIRL – Minimalist Baker’s Better Than Restaurant Falafel. I’ve been trying to up my lunch game into something a bit more wholesome than a slice of toast and a huge ol’ bowl of cereal. So at the beginning of the week I cook up some of this falafel and eke it out for the next five days with a dollop of hummus and a drizzle of homemade BBQ sauce, all stuffed into a tortilla wrap. It’s delicious – warm or cold – I ain’t fussy when it comes to falafel.
THE CURRENT KIT CRUSH – Varley have dropped a new season’s worth of activewear on us and of course it’s all bloody stunning. My top picks would be the Palisades Camo Sports Bra and Pico Camo Cropped Leggings – that’s a lovely little set there. I’ve tried them both and they are so comfy and soft and the leggings come up to belly-button height – WIN! I’ve also made a sneaky order of the Alta Iceberg Sports Bra because the marble-esque print is everything. Gotta love me some marble. Hey – at least it breaks up the sea of black leggings in my workout wardrobe.
THE SUPER-MOVE THAT’S WHIPPING MY BUTT – Bulgarian split squats. Now let me tell you, this move doesn’t look like much, but try adding a set of 8 on each leg into a circuit, whilst holding a bit of weight in each hand and they are KILLER. They actually make me feel a bit queasy, but the combination of actually doing the move and keeping balanced at the same time is so darn good for your lower body.
THE ROUTINE THAT I’LL BE DOING IN MAY – I mentioned in my last update that I was heading on some travels and so was going to have to step into hotel gym territory for the first time ever and you know what – I did. Not as often as I hoped because I was pooped whilst I was away, but I managed it twice. The jet-lag when I got back, combined with Paul’s busy schedule meant that I was out of training for almost two weeks, but I am firmly back on the horse and loving it (I was going to say ‘loving every second of it’, but the first session back was tough). I feel like a bit of rest did me good and made me realise just how much I enjoy sweating it out a couple of times a week (seriously – who am I?). So for May I’m going back to basis; three gym sessions a week with a bit of cardio, yoga and stretching thrown in. I’m weirdly looking forward to it.
