Say hello to this month’s instalment of The Fitness Files; an update of all things sweaty that drops on the first of every month. You ready for round eight? Let’s do this…
THE SONG TO ADD TO YOUR PLAYLIST – for something really relaxing to stretch out to at the end of your workout or do a little bit of self-practice Yoga to, I’m loving James Bay’s ‘Let It Go’. My neighbours just love me bellowing out ‘Why don’t you be YOOOOUUUUU‘ twenty times a day.
THE WORKOUT VIDEO TO GIVE A GO – ah I’m back to good ol’ Yoga with Adriene and this Yoga To Start Your Day video is exactly what you need to wake your limbs and mind up in the morning. It’s not too taxing, but gets you a little sweaty and leaves you feeling all limber. Adriene really is my favourite when it comes to Yoga not only because she makes it so accessible for all levels, but her voice is so calming. Next time I can’t get to sleep, I think I’ll just pop one of her videos on.
THE RECIPE THAT’S WORTH A WHIRL – aside from one morning where I just needed Coco Pops, I’ve been having the Overnight Oats recipe that I whirled up in this video every darn morning. On its own it can be pretty bland, but a green apple and a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds help to oomph up the flavour. It might be weird to dub a breakfast ‘refreshing’, but this really is and it’s so filling too.
THE FITNESS CLOTHING PIECE TO ADD TO YOUR WARDROBE – I can’t believe I hadn’t mention it in The Fitness Files before, but the Whistles x Frame collection is an absolute beaut as expected. The pieces are so soft and functional and I’ve found the things I picked up to be perfect for Yoga. My favourite is the Pip Black Crop Top, which comes down quite low so does’t show too much belly. It’s got a little criss-cross back too which makes this a nice option to wear under sheer shirts too – it’s not just your average sports bra you know.
THE ROUTINE THAT I’LL BE DOING FOR AUGUST – I must admit that I’ve been pretty pants with my fitness routine during July. I’ve barely had time to shower through L.A/packing/painting/moving/attempting to still have a social life (PAH!) and a shoulder injury from too many chaturanga push-ups combined with vigorous sanding put a stop to my 90 Day Yoga Fix. I’ve been resting up and plan to join a gym with my best mate this month once everything is settled with the new place. I’m looking forward to sweating out with my workout buddy. Mel – let’s do this!
