Recently I’ve been a little lacking in the ‘pamper’ part of my beauty routine. It’s been a while since I’ve whipped out a face mask, properly sat down and done a manicure (not just a two minute ‘let’s just ignore the cuticle situation’ one) and I don’t want to talk about my extremely hairy pins that I’ve been managing to hide under trousers. ‘But Anna it’s so hot, why aren’t wearing a skirt or shorts?‘, ‘No it’s ok I’m actually a bit chilly’, I say as I secretly boil underneath. So here are a few steps that I like to do whenever I’m feeling in need of pamper – leg shaving optional…
Lacquer Up. Whenever I paint my fingernails I just feel all chic and put-together. Are you the same? I mean it takes time and patience and whatever formula I use they end up chipping and I have to re-apply again in a few days, but I feel like it is worth it. I’m currently in love with the CHANEL Le Vernis in Espadrilles which is soon-to-be-released (May 27th!) as part of their summer collection, but the OPI Nail Polish in Berlin There Done That is another go-to of mine too.
Moisturise! This was one of my new year’s resolutions and whilst I completely nailed it in January, ever since my body moisturisers and oils have been slowly gathering dust in my bathroom drawers. I’m going to turn that around though because I’ve heard amazing things about the Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser which is basically like a spray on, slap on and go body moisturiser. The Cocoa Radiant scent smells incredible. I’ll report back, but on the whole whenever I actually do remember to moisturise I feel all slinky and smooth and J.Lo-esque.
Drip Drop. Never underestimate the power of a good eye drop. I picked up these Rohto Eyedrops in the U.S and they really are bloody fab; ridding my whites from any hint of redness and basically feeling like a refreshing drink. It’s not the most pampering of steps, but whenever I use them I do feel really bloomin’ good. For a UK-available alternative try the Optrex Dazzling Eye Drops.
No Sheet. Due to the one-use nature of sheet masks I tend to leave using them to ‘special occasions’ which never actually materialise. So I’m giving myself a free pass to use them whenever the hell I like. I’ve tried a few, but have yet to find the perfect facial sheet mask. I’m currently using the SK-II Facial Treatment Masks which are nice, but aren’t something that I see or feel a detectable difference from using. For eyes however, I love the Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Revitalising Eye Mask. These feel incredible on tired and puffy peepers and I really notice a difference hydration-wise when I finally get round to removing them. Perhaps I should give their face version a go?
Oompha Loompa. Right that’s it. The sun is in its spring/summer phase where it likes to make unexpected and intermittent appearances, so I want to make sure that I’m fully prepared for a bare-leg situation. I mentioned yesterday that I’d tried the Bondi Sands LiquidGold Self Tanning Dry-Oil and whilst I like the end result – it’s even, a natural olive colour and doesn’t smell too horrendous – I still prefer the St Tropez Express Tan Mousse. I exfoliate like a madwoman in the shower, then when I’m out I apply some moisturiser to my hands, elbow, armpits, knees and feet and rub in the tan with a mitt. You’re supposed to leave it on for three hours, but I go wild and leave it on overnight. Such a rebel I know.
