The Eye-wateringly Expensive Eyeliner That’s Really Rather Good

I’m guessing most of you are still here, because surely that’s why you’re hanging around this corner of the Internet. Well today I reach a new level of ridiculousness, blowing the trumpet of an eyeliner that equates the cost of my weekly food shop. Hello baked bean dinners for a week. But seriously it’s really rather good. I’ve mentioned it before actually, but it wasn’t until I began frequently using the marmite receptioned liner that is Benefit’s They’re Real Push-Up Liner, that Lily told me I needed to re-pick up the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen in 01 Deeper – and man was she right.

As noted in my previous review of Benefit’s latest release, for eyeliner newbies and noobs like myself it’s perfect due to the shape of the nib combined with the slow-flowing twist-up pigment which allows for control and and a pre-made flick that’s already done for you. However it has its faults, which the main one for me is watching the line slowly transfer to my upper lid throughout the day. The Tom Ford does not suffer the same fate and actually once I’d practised enough times with the Push-Up Liner’s silicone nib the brush one that sits on the top of the Tom Ford one didn’t phase me as much. It was nice to have that flexibility. But the real draw (pah – get it?) of the Tom Ford is that it’s actually two eyeliners in one; with a longer, slightly fatter applicator on one end and a smaller, finer one on the other. I draw the flick with the long side and get to work on the lash hugging line with the other. It’s a technique which I’ll let you in on Sunday’s video. Don’t hold your breath, it’s not rocket science here and hey – it’s me – but it’s one for nervous liner ladies to take note from. Cotton buds and Bioderma at the ready…
