The Everyday Base That Brings Serious Glow

IMG_2026

If you’re a regular watcher of my Snapchat (‘viviannamakeup‘ if you want to have a follow) then you might have noticed that I’m not big into wearing an absolute tonne of makeup these days (along with the fact that my purple dressing gown really needs to go in the wash and that I wear my hair in a pineapple about 99.99% of the time). I mean I haven’t been into a full-on face for years since my uni days when double-row false eyelashes were my best friend and from time to time even now I still like to go all-out and throw almost every product I own onto my features. But day-to-day I go for a minimal amount; a bit of base, concealer, brow product, mascara and something low maintenance on the lip. Easy peasy. Some parts of that routine are non-negotiables that always come out to play, but others – like foundation – I don’t mind playing around with a bit more, and sometimes I stumble across a beaut of a formula. Case in point: the YSL Teint Touche Eclat Foundation.

Chances are that you’ve heard of this foundation before because the old formula was released a couple of years ago. The original was nice and glowy, but didn’t have the best rep longevity-wise, so YSL listened, reformulated and Teint Touche Eclat Foundation is what they came up with. It promises slightly more coverage and better staying power and after using it on-off for the past two weeks I can safely say that it delivers on those claims. The coverage really depends on how you apply it. Dab it on with fingers and you’ve got yourself a light amount that’s nice for ‘good skin’ days. Apply it with a brush and it’s more medium and then worked in with a BeautyBlender you get a pretty full coverage finish.

Longevity-wise it’s better than the first attempt, but it’s still not the most long-lasting foundation that I’ve used, but that’s because the finish of it is just so lovely and glowy and really, those two characteristics just don’t mix that well. In fact a super dewy base that’s hardy is something that I’ve never really come across – but this gives it a good attempt. It just needs a bit of working back into its original position after a couple of hours, though I’m sure that if you were diligent with powder application then it’s something that could be avoided.

The other good thing here is the colour range. I personally use the shade B10 which is spot-on – no complaints – but the range available in the UK comes in at 22 colours which is pretty darn good, so there should be a match out there for ya and the YSL counter gals and guys that I’ve come across are always generous with the samples *insert thumbs up emoji*. So if it’s everyday dewiness that you’re after then I’d definitely point you in this direction.

P.S) I tried to take a photo with this on so you could see the effect, but I just couldn’t quite capture it. I’ll have a few more goes and update the post if I can snap a good picture with this extremely runny nose I’ve got going on.
