When I started to spot denim jackets back in the shops, I did a roll of the eyes and dismissed it as a trend ‘for the kids’ (yes I’m a 26, going on 62 Grandma). I owned one way back in the day from New Look and lived it in my early teenage years, but since then denim has been reserved for my bottom half only. However, stick my name on something and I’m soon convinced that it’s a good idea. Case in point: this Levi’s Classic Boyfriend Trucker Jacket with ‘Anna‘ embroidered over the pocket (FYI I had it customised at their event at Coachella, but it’s a service they offer all over the world at their flagship stores). Others wanted rips, embellishment and badges, but a simple bit of stitching was enough for me to fall in love with it and I’ve barely taken it off since. It’s even come with me to do the supermarket shop. Here’s another three ways that I’ve enjoyed wearing it recently from casual to dressy. There’s even a dress involved! No colour though – let’s not get too ahead of ourselves…
THE MEAL OUT: Levis Jacket // COS Dress (similar) // Ray Ban Sunglasses // ASH Boots // Sophie Hulme Bag.
I wore this out to a pub for dinner the other night and it felt just the right balance of ‘Oh look babes, I’m not wearing my PJ’s for once!‘, without making me feel like I’d taken the ‘getting dressed up’ thing too far. I didn’t boil in this ensemble and the jacket is a nice thickness for throwing on for late night walks back when it’s a bit nippy, but you’ve got a bit of a gin jacket on too.
THE DUNGAREE DENIM DUO: Levis Jacket // Whistles Dungarees // Ray Ban Sunglasses // Kurt Gieger Slip-Ons (similar) // CHANEL Wallet on a Chain.
I think this might be my favourite outfit out of the three. I always say that whenever I wear my dungarees I just feel ‘cool‘ (like faux cool of course, because I am 100% not cool – I mean, just read back the last sentence). Combined with my denim jacket which also makes me feel like I’m 10 years younger, this is just a look that makes me feel like one cool cat. I wore it out to coffee last weekend and I’m finding it to be a good choice to throw on at the weekends.
THE CANADIAN TUEXDO: MONOCHROME STYLE: Levis Jacket // REISS Top (similar) // Ray Ban Sunglasses // Topshop Jeans // Whistles Sandals (similar) // CHANEL Wallet on a Chain.
I do realise looking back at pictures, that this final outfit looks strikingly similar to the last one, but it’s my take on a Canadian tuxedo and a way to do the double denim look without looking like Justin and Britney. These heels are so comfortable (I have them in two colours – shhh!) and the whole look is casual, but dressy enough for drinks with your mates or a nice dinner with your other half. I tend to pair it with the flats from the previous outfit for a slightly less fancy look.
