It’s been a while since I churned out a post featuring my daily favourites, so I thought I’d put on my best posy face today and show you what’s been thrown into the makeup mix recently. The life cycle of most products in my hoards goes something a little like this *love*, *love*, *adore*, *lust affair over and placed in the back of a drawer to gather dust and never see daylight again until a ‘Shopping the Stash’ video*, so when something makes it into the everyday routine and sticks there for longer than a week then you know it’s a good ‘un.
I’m still going gaga for the Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanning (review here). I’ve already raved about this primer, tint and tanner in one, so I’ll stop myself there before entering full on love-in mode. For base I’ve been giving a sample that I swiped from the Origins counter a go. It’s their Plantscription Foundation in the shade 2, and so far so good – it sits somewhere between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation coverage-wise, but covers up my nasties and stays around for most of the day. My By Terry Touche Veloutee concealer squirted out its last dollop of goodness the other day, so until next payday I’m using the YSL Touche Éclat in 1*. It definitely has extreme highlighting properties but the By Terry had a hint more coverage so still reigns supreme. Bring on payday! To finish of my complexion, I’ve brought back out my summer favourite Clarins Bronzing Duo in Dark*, and woah this stuff is dark! A light hand and a fluffy brush gives just the right amount of Barbs glow. For cheeks I’ve been shunning my Laura Mercier dustings for the Guerlain Rose Au Joues Blush Duo*. You need the tiniest amount, but a quick flick of the matte peach shades perks up your apples perfectly.
The usuals suspects of the Laura Mercier Brow Pencil in Warm Brunette and L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara are taming and volumising my brows and lashes respectively. Now for the fun part – after over a year (or two) in hibernation the NARS Pleasures of Paris Palette is back in play. I still remember the day it arrived like it was yesterday. The two purple shades don’t get too much use, but Nepal and Fez make the perfect easy, fuss-free, everyday smokey eye combo. I use Nepal today not to complicate matters, but if I get my bottom into gear I’ll see if I can get a tutorial up for a subtle smokey eye using this palette soon. Lip-wise I’ve been rubbing on the CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine in Evasion like it’s chapstick. A moisturising nub of nude lip heaven, divine.
Ravings out the way, I’m sure this edit will manage to keep it’s head above the water and not sink into the depths of my collection anytime soon. But then again, who knows what will be hitting my beauty desk next week!
