The Burberry Face

So here’s my Burberry Beauty story so far. My Youtube subscription box and Blogger newsfeed got clogged up with raves about the Burberry eyeshadows and lipsticks. I get excited. I’m then given the opportunity to test some of the base products used on the Burberry gals in their latest campaign. By this time I resemble more of an excitable puppy. They arrive, I’m suitably impressed by most of the products so off I trot to the Burberry counter to pick up some colourful bits to add to my stash and above is the finished look. I promise you I’m happy in the photo above, trying so desperately to pull off an Eddie Campbell look, but failing. And I promise I wasn’t nude either, just a bit of boob-tube action going on. So what Burberry Beauty bits did I use…

Firstly I applied the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base*, Burberry’s light-reflecting primer. This is one of the products that I’m not jumping for joy over, I just don’t find that it makes much of a difference to my skin and for a bit of glow I much prefer the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector. Then onto foundation and for that I blended the Sheer Foundation in Trench No.05* all over the face lightly. Now I actually like this foundation: natural skin-like finish? Check. Good colour match? Check. Applies evenly? Check. My only problem with it is the lasting power, it’s practically all disappeared when I look back at my skin six hours after application. So perhaps a nice choice for drier skins but not us oiler ladies. For concealer I applied a touch of Sheer Concealer in Rosy Beige No.03*, under the eyes. It does a fair enough job, but won’t be replacing my By Terry anytime soon. Then onto the good stuff. I’ve spoken about my love of the Sheer Summer Glow Natural Highlighting Compact* before (review here), I blended it all over my cheeks for a touch of shimmery bronze goodness. Then for blush I went for my newest purchase, their Light Glow Tangerine Blush No.06. One word – gorgeous. An everyday subtle peach shade, that I know I’ll be getting a lot of use of.

For brows I didn’t have a Burberry product so pencilled them in slightly with the Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Warm Brunette. Now onto eyeshadow, and the Sheer Eye Shadow in Pale Barley No.22 was something I’ve wanted to get my hands on for ages. Funnily enough it was the first thing the Burberry counter guy recommended for me. A golden taupe, natural enough for a non-eyeshadow wearer like myself to throw on without feeling overdone. And the texture! Well, expect to see a sole review on this soon. I defined the eyes a little, top and bottom with the Eye Definer in Golden Brown No.06* (full review here) and applied a healthy coating of the Effortless Mascara in Midnight Black No.01* to my lashes. Not a mascara I’d recommend for curly lash lovers, as this is awful at holding a curl and left me with straight clumpy lashes. I’m not a fan. Then for lips I used the Lip Cover in Cameo No.02, a gorgeous ‘my lips but better’ pinky, brown toned nude (full review here). A little different to what I’m used to but it definitely enhances the natural colour of my lips and therefore suits my complexion rather nicely.

So overall the bronzer, blush, eyeliner, eyeshadow and lipstick get the biggest thumbs up from me – Burberry Beauty colour products FTW. Have you given any of these bits a go? Any more recommendations for me? I know you guys love to add things to my ever-growing list…
