The Best Candle For (Insert Mood Here)…

IMG_0908IMG_0907

Ooh I do love a good candle. There’s something about them makes things feel cosy and also makes me feel like I’m a real adult who has got my shit together (even though I dropped my phone on my face twice whilst in bed this morning – it’s practically a daily occurrence for me). They can make a bathtime feel spa-like, an evening feel more romantic and waft away that fishy-scent leftover from last night’s dinner in a matter of minutes. Pretty and practical. I also find that they’re a good mood shifter. Light one up and suddenly I’ve gone from ‘WHY ARE THERE NOT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY?‘ meltdown-mode to preaching to Mark about some inspirational quote I saw on Instagram day (because he loves it when I do that *raises eyebrow*). Here are some of my favourite mood movers…

The Best Candle For When You Want to Feel… Calm – Jo Malone Lavender & Lovage Candle. I’ve tried a tonne of Jo Malone candles over the years, but this is my favourite one of them all and probably one of my favourite candles of all time. The herby mix creates a soothing scent that’s perfect for in the bathroom if you’re having a little pamper or the bedroom if you need help nodding off.

The Best Candle For When You Want to Feel… ReinvigoratedThe White Company Wild Mint Candle. I keep this candle in my office because there’s nothing like a hit of mint to the nostrils to wake me up and increase productivity. Some candles can make me feel sleepy, but this makes me feel ready for anything. It’s subtle and green, but delivers a swift kick in the rear in terms of motivation.

The Best Candle For When You Want to Feel… SummeryAnthropologie Mediterranean Fig Candle. Lily got me this candle for my birthday and it smells delicious. I’ve burned through my fair share of fig candles and this is definitely the most summery one of them all. There’s a bit of coconut and pineapple in there, so it’s like a pina colada/J.Lo Miami Glow (remember that!?) mixed with a more sophisticated figgy whiff.

The Best Candle For When You Want to Feel… HappyThe White Company Fresh Fig Candle. For me this smells of home. I’ve made a real effort for this to become our ‘home scent‘ with the aid of a candle in the front room, a reed diffuser in the hallway and a room spray in the bathroom. It’s fruity and fresh, but not in a heavily floral way at all – everyone who walks in the front door likes it. I’m currently on a reed diffuser every six months schedule. In fact, it’s time to head to town now to pick a new one up…
