I was scratching my head over this month’s ‘Beauty Bag‘. So far we’ve had sparkles, sheers, and a stonking amount of lip lacquer, but my recent downsizing attitude towards my product stash and love for alliteration landed me at the theme of ‘Multitasking March’. Beauty bits that serve a multitude of functions – I’m all over that. Time and space savers, I’m no stranger to a dab of blush on the lips or brow product through the lashes. Heck this is coming from the girl who used to cake concealer on her lips back in the day. Massive error, I promise to never, ever repeat that process. It’s time to get a little creative and welcome the multifunctional March makeup additions.
I reported yesterday on the seemingly never-ending list of uses for Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sensual Skin Enhancer in SX05. Foundation, concealer, tinted moisturiser mixing element, corrector, contour – I’ll stop there before your mouse wanders. Paired with my other complexion perfection ingredient, Clinique’s Airbrush Concealer in 4*, they’ll be no stopping me face-base-wise. As with any illuminating pen product, these help to highlight any area of the face, not just under eyes, and it combos up well with the Kevyn Aucoin to create something a little more heavy duty. A newer addition to the plentiful purpose lineup, comes highly recommended by my good mate Lily – Clarins Instant Light Complexion Perfector in Rose Shimmer*. A light textured luminous cream, it can be added to matte bases to dew up the formula or swiped alone across the cheekbones post-foundation for a subtle radiance, all without a speck of sparkle in sight. Expect an update soon.
I’ve mentioned the whole ‘cheek product on lip’ and vice versa thang already; it’s a cliché but it works. I like the cream to powder finish of Kevyn Aucoin’s The Creamy Glow in Tansoleil patted onto my pout. No-smudging, no-shine. Flipping the idea on its head, NARS Barbarella Lipstick, makes a great peachy blush companion. To make the application process a little less stripe-on-and-go, I swatch on the back of my hand and stipple in with a brush. Finally, the least sexy, but rather handy addition to any makeup bag is a clear brow gel. I’m rather fond of Anastasia’s Clear Brow Gel*, and while keeping runaway brows in place, I sometimes swatch over my bottom lashes for definition and have even been known to tame flyaway hairs when trying to perfect my sleek ponytail look.
So into the streamlined stash they go. Multitasking makeup for March, my favourite. After my five product face I reckon I can lower the bar even more – four, three? Heck, it’ll be Vivianna Doesn’t Do Makeup at this rate…
