This is the beauty bag that I’ve wanted to put together since the first month of this feature. A bronzed, glowing, beach babe edit to get you beauty beefed up for the impending summer – if it ever decides to play nice. But just in case it does, or if you’re heading off to sunnier shores over the next few weeks – me? jealous? never – then here’s some red hot weather ready products that I’ll be adding into my makeup mix for the month of June…
Ok. Lets talk complexion. Now I’m one to rally behind a healthy sunkissed mug all year round – I have been known to dust on the odd touch of bronzer before going sledging in the snow – so now June is knocking on the door I’m ready to ramp it up an extra notch. Not to oompha loompa territory, but just to a subtle ‘I’ve been out in the sun all day, not really cause I’m a good girl and wear SPF’ level. Chantecaille Radiance Gel Bronzer is the boss for this job – the texture lends itself to base status and blended all over warms up your face. You can smudge it just over cheekbones too and the gel-like formula means there’s not a hint of matteness in sight, just bronze glow baby. A decent enough dupe for 1/100th of the price is Bourjois’ BB Bronzing Cream. For when a dust of powdered sun is on the cards, I’ll be reaching for YSL’s Terre Saharienne Bronzing Powder*. Its peach laced tone means I’ll skip on the blush, blend in this and be done with bronzing. Nice.
A good bronzey eye is about as adventurous as I get, so I’ve got the cooper coloured lid thing down. Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in Bad Girl Bronze is a one stop shop for blended out smokiness. Not too bad in the longevity stakes either and I find the rusty shade to pair rather nicely with my green peepers. If I fancy something a little more subtle, Laura Mercier’s Metallic Créme Eye Colour in Rose Gold may get an outing; it’s a little sheerer and the tube makes application tricky but the wash of pinky champagne all over the lid is worth the fuss. Talking of fuss, MAC’s Pigment in Tan is a stunner but is a tough one to master. I find a well-primed lid, a flat brush and lots of tissue for the impending glitter fallout are essential. Seeing as things are getting a little bit sexy on the eyes, I’m planning on keeping lips simple; I predict AERIN’s Lipgloss in Sweet Pea* will be getting a lot of pout-time this month.
Tan topped-up, lids sufficiently bronzed and lips sorted with a slick of nude, come on sun – I’m ready for ya.
