The bad witch? That’s a title I bet you’d never think you’d read on VDM, eh? Well Urban Decay being the crazy cats that they are have paired up with Disney to launch two new limited edition palettes based around the new Oz The Great and Powerful film which just so happens to be showing in cinemas from today (see what I did there?). I previewed it last week and have to say it was a good watch: the 3D effects were ah-mazing and Zach Braff (my future husband) and Mila Kunis (my future wife) star. On the subject of Mila, the two palettes are based around her character, Theodora* and Michelle Williams’, Glinda or without trying to give the plot away too much – the bad witch and the good witch. I was instantly drawn to Theodora’s more sultry and a little sex-ed up palette and gave it a whirl. So please do read on and witness my very poor attempt at recreating Mila’s Bad Witch makeup…
Each of the two palettes come quipped with six eyeshadows (two that are split pan – a first for Urban Decay – so technically you’re getting eight), a mini 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, a full-size Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour and a mini ‘how-to’ card. I took all the instruction I could get and followed the steps to the letter. Firstly I took the lightly frosted cream shade, Broken along the browbone and all across the lids as a base, followed by Beware, a warm brown, over the top and blended into the crease. I then popped a little of the purple-toned Bewitch in the outer corner and took it down on the lower lashline. I applied a light line of the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero on the outside third of the upper lashline and blended up and out – finished off with a lick of Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colour in Theodora on the lips and my transformation into the bad witch was complete.
Is this a palette you desperately need to add to your collection? No. It’s a nice selection of shades, although I think the greens will remain untouched by me, and at £35 (available at Debenhams) it’s not bad value for the combination of products you get – but the Naked palettes always work out a better deal. On the brightside though, the Super-Saturated High Gloss Lip Colours are a bit of a revelation. A pouty pop of shine that sticks around and was so simple to apply; I feel a new lip crush coming on. Conclusions drawn, so now my Mila Kunis girl crush is out the bag, feast your eyes on this video in which she basically illustrates very beautifully why she is so god damn awesome.
