So You Want A New Lipstick?

DIOR

It can take days, sometimes weeks, of research before I’m brave enough to take the plunge when it comes to a foundation purchase. The same goes for mascara because there’s the ‘Does it hold a curl?’ Google queries that I need to make. However, when it comes to lipstick, I’m a grab and go kinda gal. Nine times out of ten I’m chuffed with my purchase, partly because there isn’t too much that can go wrong when it comes to pouts, yet it’s one of the more transformative beauty products. When it doubt pick up a lipstick. Come to think of it, I’d quite like a pyjama top with that on the front…

With payday on its way, or been and gone for some, I thought I’d share a lipstick formula that has been floating my boat recently. It’s the Dior Rouge Dior Lipsticks, particularly in the shades 468 Rose Bonheur (swatched on the left) and 808 Victoire (swatched on the right). Now I don’t think these are new, but they’re part of a display on counter at the moment as the colours match up with the freshly released Dior Rouge Dior Brilliant glosses – at least I’ve got a feeling that’s what’s happened. The lipsticks though are part of a new wave of formula that are pigmented, but in a completely comfortable way. They’re not matte, nor particularly glossy, but coat the lips with a decent hit of colour, whilst applying smoothly with just one swipe. It’s like lipstick made easy.

Rose Bonheur is my favourite and is a bit of a MAC Angel-type shade in that it’s pink, but not overly bubblegum way. It does that whole ‘brightening and whitening’ thing and pairs with whatever makeup I’ve got on. Victoire requires a bit more thought behind it as the peachy tones can make my teeth look a little on the yellow side – nice. It’s best taken lightly over the lips and patted in, but I love the nod to coral that it leaves behind. It’s got a ’60’s vibe going on and that’s always a good thing in my book.

We’ve also got to mention the packaging, because it’s luxe and beautiful. The snap shut. Swoon. So if you’re in the mood to treat your lips to something new, then you know where to head…
