So, I’ve developed a bit of a thing for jumpsuits. Whenever I’ve got a big event, or party, or wedding coming up and I have no idea what to wear I scour the jumpsuit sections of ZARA, Whistles and ASOS and more often than not one of those come up trumps. There’s just something about them that is so flattering. The wide legs lengthen, the silhouette is chic yet sexy and you don’t even have to shave your legs (most of the time). It’s basically my perfect going out outfit. Although they can be a little clingy on the food baby area, it’s nothing that a pair of ‘over the belly, down to the knee’ control pants can’t fix. Lovely.
So say hello to my latest edition – the Whistles Marina Cross Jumpsuit. I actually gasped when I saw it online. Monochrome? Check. Wide leg? Check. Pockets? Check. I also gasped when I saw the price, but I’d purchased a Self Portrait number for a similar amount a couple of weeks ago and promptly returned it because the size 10 wouldn’t even do up past my bum, so my girlie maths saw it as a bit of an exchange. That makes sense, right? It’s also an investment piece. One of those that I can crack out for big events and then show my future children it in 20 years time and they can laugh and say that it was ‘Soooooo 2010’s‘.
Back to the jumpsuit. It’s just a beautifully made piece. Stretchy in all the right places – though I can’t put my hands in the air, like I just don’t care in it – and in materials that flatter. The top is a waffled black material and the culotte bottoms a silk mix that hit just the right length and look pretty brill paired with a nude sandal (these babies are from ALDO and are actually fairly comfortable for a heel).
I have high hopes for this being a much treasured item in my wardrobe. I’m just not really a dress kinda gal, but this makes me feel put-together and fancy whilst still feeling like myself and that’s what it’s all about, right? Side note: Can you tell I was freezing my nadgers off in the pictures above? Brighton had decided to turn into the Arctic Circle which made for a very entertaining photography session. Brrrrrrr.
