Scrub a Dub Dub

Who doesn’t love a good ol’ scrub? I for one enjoy nothing more a good slough away in soak; face, body, hands, hair, feet – no surface is left unsanded. There’s something rather satisfying about shedding a layer of skin in a snake-like fashion, so here’s my favourites for when the pamper routine gets a little grainy…

Alpha H Gentle Daily Exfoliant* – £32.50 – from Cult Beauty. I’m not a big fan of manual exfoliation face-wise; chemical bad boys dominate my facial skincare routine. But when I do fancy a gentle slough away at my skin when things are looking über rough out this comes with not a jagged surface in sight as water activated fruit enzymes grind away the daily grime. Product prescription: once a week, post cleanse, pre tone – just add water.

Philip Kingsley Exfoliating Scalp Mask – £4.70 – from FeelUnique. Now this is something I’m a little giddy about. An exfoliating mask for your scalp that rids build-up, flakes and soothes your bonce, and I’m happy to say it does exactly what it says on the tin. My roots can get a little snowflake looking sometime, but this washes it all away while leaving everything a little tingly like you have a brand new head. Strange, but true.

Clinique Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream* – £20 – from Boots. Some body exfoliators can leave behind a heavy film post rub, but this waves goodbye dead skin cells, saying hello to a smoother layer and particularly works well when I’ve got my tan on to prep for a fresh application. A good salty grit that rids the grime without the grease; all with a minty fresh scent.

Fig + Yarrow Alpine Pumice Foot Treatment – £21 – from Cult Beauty. Scrubby and softening in just the right amounts and the perfect for upkeep in between weekly uses of the Tweezerman Foot File. The smell may leave a little to be desired but once you get over the ‘greeny’ whiff you’ll be happy with your softer than soft trotters courtesy of the pumice stone powder and olive oil blend. I tend to massage a pea-sized amount into my feet each bathtime, then pat dry and slip on socks in seconds to lock in the moisture.

Rituals Hand Therapy* – £10 – from Rituals. I initially snubbed this scrub when it landed in my grasps, but after my boyfriend stumbling across it in the bathroom and singing its praises, I gave it a go. Having never used a hand scrub before I wasn’t sure what to expect, but after one quick rub with this I was sold. A scrummy-smelling wash with a gritty twist that leaves a slight oil on the hands negating the need for a moisturiser complete with the boys seal of approval. Win.
