Last week I was invited to the Pixi Beauty flagship store in London down in Fouberts Place, this little road houses some great makeup shops so if you are ever in London I highly recommend taking a peak down there! Pixi is a brand that I always eye up in Boots, but never end up walking away with anything. I’m not sure if it’s the price, the branding or the fact that I don’t really hear too much about them in the blogging world (which is a huge deciding factor in my purchases), but I have never tried anything from their range. So I was intrigued to pop into their free-standing store and see what their latest collection had to offer.
Their newest offering is ‘PixiGlow’ a collaboration with Disney and inspired by the world’s most famous fairy, Tinker Bell. Drawing on her youthful and illuminating beauty, Petra Strand, Makeup Artist and creator of Pixi, worked with Disney Character Artist, John Quinn to create a core-collection of everyday pieces that created a magical glow and natural finish to the face. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the collection and most of all it’s wearabilty. So often companies limited edition collections are full of crazy-coloured pieces designed to shock rather than be worn and aside from the radioactive Nail Colour in Pirouette Pink, everything is extremely neutral toned – right up my street!
The collection contains the already spoken about Nail Colour in Pirouette Pink, Fairy Dust in Moonlit Luster, a shimmering white pigment, Straight on Till Morning Liner in a mossy green shade and the Magic Tink Tint in Happy Thoughts Pink, a colour-changing balm that goes a pretty bright pink shade on my lips. But the two standout products for me are the Catching Shadows Crayon in Beaming Reflection* and the Fairy Face Palette in Pixi Belle*. The Beaming Reflection Crayon is basically a paler version of MAC All That Glitter in cream pencil form, what is there not too like? I have been wearing this applied all over the lid from the pencil and then blended out round the edges with a MAC 217 brush, beaut! Be careful though, I applied a primer underneath as my eyelids get oily, but I really didn’t need to – this pencil is a classic cream-to-powder formula and seriously sticks around all day. Seeing as I do my makeup in a rush and on public transport most morning, palettes like the Fairy Face Palette in Pixi Belle come in seriously handy. Containing 5 of both neutral eyeshadow and lip shades and a hidden pinky/plum blush underneath it’s one of those palettes that would come in seriously handy for transforming my office makeup into something more a little more sultry for the nighttime.
