I let the hysteria regarding The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer wash over me. Sure it looked nice, but with my ol’ favourite Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Cream in Ice Gold still knocking around (let’s not talk about expiry dates as I emit an audible blub when I think about popping this one in the bin) and the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight taking care of things sheeny in the cheek department I didn’t think I needed to add the collection. But you know as with anything in the beauty world when the community gets all ravy about a product and won’t let it go I just have to try it (‘have’ being the operative word) and when it comes to the Mary-Lou Manizer – cracking name by the way – I’m actually pretty thankful to my sheep-like tendencies…
It’s everything everyone has already said it would be, so I’ll keep this one short and sweet. It’s a buttery-textured powder that blends invisibly into the complexion leaving behind a golden glow to the planes of the face that is only noticeable when the applied area is turned into the light. A subtle formula, sure, but it can be built up to a more Kardashian-esque strength if required. I attempted many (many) times to picture its effect but failed miserably so you’ll just have to take my word for it. But if you’re falling short in the highlighter department then it’s time to get Mary-Lou on your side…
