There are some purchases in life that I like to call the ‘black vest top purchases’. Black vest tops are probably what I have the most of in my wardrobe as I tend to wear one everyday in the winter under my outfit for warmth purposes and every time I have to repurchase one it’s just such a ‘blah’ non-exciting purchase. The same goes for jeans, cotton pads and hairbands – all necessary but they’re just not the most fun ones to buy. Today’s edit focuses on these non-sexy purchases from the beauty category. Items that it’s great to have around but it’s just not the most enjoyable thing to add to your shopping list…
The Wet Brush. The hairbrush that ‘adults who used to cry as kids when their parents brushed their hair’ dreams are made of. Parting comb aside this is the only brush I use on a daily basis as it works through locks in the most pain-free way possible. And just look how cute the mini version is. How can you say no that that?
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers. I purchased a pair of these years ago, then I cheated on them with the Japonesque ones and now I’m back. Nothing curls my eyelashes quite like them.
Japonesque Touch-Up Razor. Being a naturally thick haired, wild beast – I have a lot in the unwanted hair department. How I dispose of my moustache so it doesn’t look like I’m participating in Movember is by using these. It’s pretty self explanatory…
Duo Eyelash Adhesive. With a tube of this in your stash you’ll never have to use the fishy smelling glue that comes with false lashes ever again. I’m not the most avid faux lash wearer but I do feel like this has a bit more grip and it’s a bit easier to use than the usual freebie formulas.
Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover. Though I’m still not quite sure how you would use this to remove nail polish from your toes (I have big toes and I just don’t think they’ll fit into the slot provided), when it comes to taking varnish off your fingertips, nothing is faster and more convenient.
Optrex Eyedew Dazzling Eye Drops. I’m a sufferer of red itchy eyes thanks to tiredness and excessive eye rubbing which makes for an interesting look whenever I wish to don a red-ish toned eyeshadow. To counteract that I’ve found the only thing that turns my pink balls into white (I’m sure there was a better way of phrasing that) is this stuff.
Charlotte Tilbury Pencil Sharpener. Given that I go on and on about the NARS Lip Pencils, a few of you have asked what I use to sharpen them and this is it. There are slots for two different sizes of pencil which means that all the thinner lip pencils and eye kohls can be sharpened along with the larger ones like the NARS and Charlotte Tilbury’s Shadow Sticks. Now it’s time to get rid of the other five that I’ve managed to collect over the years…
