With a lock chop comes a new haircare routine and so today I thought I’d drop in to update you on how it’s currently shaping up. So far, so good with my revamped style. It requires about a 10th of the drying time, practically no fiddling with at all unless I’m feeling fancy and it just feels like ‘me‘. I think I’ve found my length and I’ll be staying here. No old ‘I haven’t been to the hairdressers for two years’ Anna, *shudders* – in my defence I was an extremely poor student at the time and saved my extra dosh exclusively for textbooks Space NK.
Shampoo-wise I’ve gone back to an old favourite; Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Foam Wash Shampoo. This stuff is great because it cleans and degreases while also adding a bit of texture back into my lengths. It’s pricey, but one benefit of shorter hair is that product can now go a little further. Though I’ve got the accompanying conditioner sitting in my shower, since I’ve had the cut I have to admit that I haven’t used conditioner once. I know, shocker. The main reason I reached for the stuff was to soften the ends to aid brushing, but now there’s not really much to brush I’m wary that it might weigh things down a little, so have snubbed it completely.
Post-wash I’ve been using the Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray which just makes things look…. piecey – in a good way, you know? It stops it looking too polished and brushed through and adds volume from root to tip. Plus it smells incredible. Sometimes I do find that immediately after blow-drying it can get a bit flicky and full at the ends and to diffuse that situation I’ve been snooping through Mark’s grooming bag and fishing out Bumble & Bumble’s Semisumo. Shhhhh. It’s a putty/wax/finishing oil that adds hold, definition and shine in equal measures and is now smeared all over the gearstick in my car from when I forgot to rinse my hands after applying it. I’m not covering my tracks very well.
A three product haircare routine? Yep, I could get used to this.
