I never used to bother too much with my travel skincare stash. I’d throw a few odds, sods and miniatures in my suitcase and cross my fingers for the best. I’ve since come to realise that travelling really ain’t the best for my complexion and it fights me back with areas of dryness, patches of lumpy bumpy bits and a serving of spotty chin. Lovely jubbly. So these days it’s more of a thought out edit that comes with me overseas. This time round the emphasis was on hydration, glow, with a side of light exfoliation. Everything dinky on the size scale, but hefty with the effectiveness.
It goes without saying that miniatures of both the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover and the OSKIA Renaissance Cleansing Gel are among the first to be packed. The mini Clarins came as a gift with purchase and the OSKIA was part of a limited edition gifting range at Christmas (you know what to put on your Christmas list this year!). I tried a few new makeup removers and cleansers recently and still, nothing even comes close to these two items.
Then for the spritz this time round I found a travel-size version of the Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence that I got as part of a ‘try-me‘ style sampling set. This is great for the plane as well to give an instant dose of glow and refreshment and has a surprisingly good and even spray. It’s a Tata Harper double dose because then I’ve been going in with the Restorative Eye Cream. I also take this on the plane with me and give it a little dab under my eyes every couple of hours to de-puff and add some moisture to my under eye area which can get notoriously dry. Serum-wise I decanted some of my long time fave, the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair, into a mini pipette-accompanied bottle from MUJI because it seems to tackle both spots and dehydration in one quick swoop.
Then for the fun bit – treatments, SPFs and oils. Here is where I have a bit of a choice and mix things up a bit depending on the time of day and my needs. Mostly I’ve been throwing on the KYPRIS Beauty Elixir 1000 Roses because I’m as dry as a cat’s behind and my skin literally drinks this stuff up in a matter of minutes. Though I’ve been switching it up with the REN Wake Wonderful Night Time Facial, which is packed with fruit enzymes that munch away at dry bits and a reveal a brighter and smoother complexion. It’s a good one to have in your travel arsenal because not only is it small and easy to pack, there’s always a day when your skin feels like sandpaper and you’d wish that you’d brought this with you. The other thing I’ve been throwing on as my final step is the Dr Dennis Gross Instant Radiance SPF40 which is something I picked up on this trip and is just glorious. Even the girl at DryBar commented on my skin when I was wearing this. SCORE (because really I felt like the poop emoji that day).
Then I throw on the BITE Beauty Agave Lip Mask, a.k.a – the thickest, but most effective lip balm that I’ve ever tried and get on with my day/call it a night and pray that my jet-lag doesn’t wake me up at 3am.
