YouTube is a truly wonderful tool. Obviously for the world of beauty, but when I rake through my history on it (a task which makes me slightly concerned at the amount of time I spend on there and cat related videos I watch), fitness videos come a close second. There’s just something satisfying about working out for free, with your own equipment, from the comfort of your front room, yet with the guidance of a professional all thanks to the medium that is YouTube. For the past few months I’ve supplemented my running training a few mornings a week with an online conducted routine and below are five of my favourites. Yoga with Adrienne’s ‘Yoga for Weight Loss: Abs & Arms‘ – my favourite yoga video that I’ve found and of course it helps that Adrienne is an absolute babe. Each workout is explained and demoed in an easy-to-follow way with modifications depending on whether you’re a beginner or more advanced. My arms and abs feel like they’ve been to work after this one.
Fitness Blender’s ‘Tank Top Arms Workout‘ – being only eight minutes long this is one I like to slap on to the end of another routine if I feel like my arms haven’t been doing much. It’s quite a nice one to go back to and measure your progress with as when I first started I couldn’t do the full 1 minute for each exercise (some I still can’t, some I can).
Tone it Up’s ‘KettleToning‘ – A mix of kettle ball work, yoga and stretching, I wasn’t expecting this one to burn as much as it did but the calming music and the nice background do make you feel chilled while you’re doing it and it’s always fun to get to grips with a new piece of equipment.
POPSUGAR Fitness’ ‘30 Minute Fat Frying Bikini Body Workout‘ – this is one of the most enjoyable/hardest of the routines as it incorporates doing some of the moves on a slippery surface with towels under your hands or feet to add an extra level of required balance. Just make sure the tiled section of your kitchen floor is larger than mine or you will end up head butting the fridge.
Blogilates’ ‘POP Pilates for Beginners Total Body Workout‘ – a great starting point for the rest of Casey’s videos. She talks through correct stance, posture and the beginner’s moves of her POP pilates routines. Be warned – this one BURNS your abs. Laughing the next day will be painful.
