I mean, I could have picked 30…
*This post contains a paid for advertorial from Space NK
It’s hard to believe that we’re in November already, let alone the fact that it’s christmas season and festive frolics are in full swing. It’s happening people. I went a bit nuts buying all things glitter and sparkle for this post and no-one even batted an eyelid. So it’s safe to start compiling shopping lists and adding things to your wishlist before all the good stuff goes.
Speaking of the good stuff, when Space NK asked me to compile a list of my top 10 picks from their gifting collection, I had to narrow it down from about 30 items. You know me and their seasonal stuff. Every year it delivers and I manage to tick most of the girls (and guys!) off my present buying list. I mean you can’t go wrong with a Shimmering Spice Candle (this year’s packaging is divine) and the Aromatherapy Associates The Ultimate Bath Collection (I get this for my Grandparents every year and they love it), can you? Here’s what else I’d recommend picking up. One for them, one for you…
For a stressed-out soul… This Works Super Sleep. This is the one product that basically all the women in my life use; my mum, my sister, all my friends. I’ve got a bottle on hand of it too and Mark always try to steal a spritz or two whenever I use it. This handy edition has the two pillow spray formulas in one bottle which means you can pick between the Deep Sleep Pillow Spray to help you drop off into the land of nod faster or the Sleep Plus Pillow Spray to reduce your nighttime fidgeting.
For the makeup lover… Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light. If you’re looking for a beauty gift that will make the receiver swoon, then this is it. Inside the (completely drool-worthy) palette are a finishing powder, a bronzer, two blushes and a strobe powder. It’s basically all the face powders you need to create a glow that even J.Lo would be proud of.
For the frequent flyer… OSKIA Merry & Bright Cracker. This is top of my christmas list this year. It’s hard to find good quality skincare in miniature, travel-friendly sizes, but this cracker holds a dinky version of my favourite cleanser inside. One bottle has lasted me a year of travelling and has kept my skin soft and hydrated along the way. Time to pick up another one I say.
For the magpie… By Terry Impearlious Ombre Backstair Gift Collection. If you’ve got a friend or family member that loves a bit of a smokey eye and is a fan of a touch of shimmer here and there, then you can’t go wrong with this set, that contains five of the best-selling shades of By Terry’s cult cream eyeshadow sticks. Although it’s pricey, it’s cheaper than purchasing them separately, which also makes it a good one to buy and split between pals.
For the one who loves a pamper… Kiehl’s Mini Creme de Corps Collection. I was over the moon when I spotted one of my favourite body moisturisers not only in miniature, but in two limited-edition, never-smelt-before scents. Soy Milk and Honey will forever be a favourite, but Grapefruit is giving it a run for its money and Lavender is a lovely formula to slather on before bed. Hydration has never smelt so good.
For the person who has everything (and a good sense of humour)… Aesop Post-Poo Drops. You might think that this is a novelty gift, but let me tell you not only are these a bit of a conversation starter, they also work too. Just add a drop down the loo after the flush and the room suddenly smells like summer and citrus. The chicest form of toilet humour.
For the bold lip lover… NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Mysterious Red. If you’ve got a mate that rocks a red lip like no other, then they will be forever in your debt when you introduce them to this banging formula from NARS. No lip pencil required, thanks to the easily sharpened nib, these coat the lips in a matte, opaque wash of colour that never feels drying, but hangs around for hours with minimal touch-ups required. My top picks? Cruella, Red Square and Mysterious Red.
For your Secret Santa… Aromatherapy Associates My Treat. £10 limit? Then you can’t go wrong with this. Everyone loves a bath and this scent is the perfect pick-me-up after a long and tiring day. Just add a capful to the bathwater and soak away. If you’re in a bath-free home then no worries; slather on before you get in the shower and continue your rinse as normal, but just with some seriously zesty vibes.
For the one who’s always painting their nails… Smith & Cult Nail Trio. When beauty products come in festive sets, there’s often a dud colour in there somewhere – but not here. This trio contains three of my favourite polishes that I have in my collection; all presented in luxe packaging and with a nice wide brush that hugs the nail bed. Dark Like Me is a beautiful deep purple, Stockholm Syndrome does that whole grey/lilac hybrid thing and Kundalini Hustle is the only red I own.
For the recent mover… Byredo Bibliothèque Candle. I know that when we moved last year, candles were one of the things that really made our new surroundings feel like home. The Byredo offering not only looks the part and will spruce up any bare shelves, but the scent catches even before you light it. I’ve given a few a go, but Bibliothèque tickles my fancy the most. You know the smell of a good book? Think that, mixed with a light fruit flavour and a bit of sexy man thrown in. It’s delicious.
