My Scarf Wardrobe

Every winter I seem to forget just how bleedin’ freezing I was the winter before and how I struggled through without ever purchasing a really, proper warm coat (it’s something that I have resisted since my school days when my Mum would insist on bundling me in the most uncool coats that looked more like duvets than coats and were usually floral patterned). Well this year I did make the purchase of a parka, but to make my not-so-warm jacket offerings a tad more toasty I’ve been relying on the trusty scarf. A length of knitwear designed to be tied, draped or wrapped around ones necklace to keep them warm and wipe excess makeup on to. They also help to disguise the fact that I like to wear the same coat every single darn day. So today I thought I’d talk you through my favourites…

COS Black Cashmere Scarf. This one always makes me feel really fancy when I wear it – ‘come have a stroke… it’s cashmere‘ (I assure that exchange has only ever happened in my head). This one also has the added benefit of being makeup proof and it’s not too bulky so is fab for when you’re having a good hair day and you want to show it off.

Topshop Fairisle Snood. Who doesn’t love a good snood? One of the cosiest of the bunch this one has a bit of pattern to it, so spices up a mundane monochrome ensemble and has that volume to it that makes you look really, really snuggly. Another good one for smearing lipstick on and it blending in. Jokes.

COS Blue Woven Wool Scarf. Currently my most worn scarf this season, this also doubles up as a blanket if you ever end up locked out or on a particularly freezing tube/train carriage. Another way to inject some colour into a drab outfit, the blue does look pretty awesome when paired with a red lip which is a look I’ve become rather fond of.

ASOS Grey Oversized Scarf. This one is huge; on the same size scale as the COS Wool one and with the snuggly-ness of the COS Cashmere one – a good all-rounder that I like to pair with my leather jacket whenever I crack it out. It’s so big that I think I can wrap it like three times round my neck. Winter – let’s be havin’ ya.
