It’s not unheard of for me to think that I’ve found the perfect ‘my lips, but better’ shade. In fact it’s probably an almost weekly occurrence and my personal mission in the lipstick department. But what about an exact match? Well, that doesn’t happen too often. Now if you had asked me before I found a spot-on shade for my pout what the benefit of finding one was I’m not sure I would have been able to tell you, but since finding it I can give you a little list of advantages. One – it evens everything out. Two – it can double up as a lip liner or primer for when you want to whack another colour over the top. Three – depending on its formula it can be like your lips, but with a different finish.
So, the lipstick in question comes from the new-ish-ly released Bobbi Brown ‘Smokey Nudes’ collection. There’s a nice enough Shimmer Brick and Eyeshadow Palette, but the real stars of the show for me were the four new colours in their Creamy Matte Lip Colour line – all nudes and with all tones covered. The colour I love is Nude; a blend of all the usual suspects – brown, mauve, pink – that when applied to my lips looks almost undetectable and just uniforms everything up with a slightly matte-r, but not dehydrated, looking finish. There’s something a bit Kylie Jenner, ’90’s chic about it.
Being the makeup maverick that I am (*scoffs*), I couldn’t leave it there and after a few swatches and swipes discovered that with a layer of another shade from the range – Pink Nude – blotted over the top it became more of a ‘MLBB’ colour, with an amped up pink tone and the same creamy finish. Aren’t I wild?
The moral of the story is that a ‘my lips’ lipstick comes in very handy, the Creamy Matte Lip Colours are the stars of Bobbi Brown’s latest show and you can never have enough ‘MLBB’ shades. Am I right?
