So yesterday I tweeted that I have decided on my new number one foundation. This may have induced some excitement in a few of you as I know the quest for the ‘perfect’ foundation is a thought that plays heavy on many of our minds, so I apologise now for any future disappointment as my new ‘No1’ is not new to me, I have raved about it before and it certainly isn’t something that is hot on the block – but it has officially surpassed Guerlain Lingerie De Peau foundation to be my absolute FAV! My new Number 1 foundation is……drum roll please…..Chanel Mat Lumi
ére. I have previously given in-depth reviews on both the Guerlain (
link) and Chanel (
link), so have a quick look at those if you fancy a bit of meaty foundation reading. But I have come to the conclusion that as much as I love the satin-like, natural finish of the Guerlain, there is one area where the Chanel beats it hands down – longevity. With my lazy days as a student now long-gone, I have entered the world of the 13 hour day – I slap my makeup on a 6am and would rather like it to stay on till I arrive home at 8pm. This of course is a pipe dream, for makeup to look truly flawless it will require a few touch ups here and there but the Chanel Mat Lumi
ére gives it a good go. Here is a little picture of me rocking the Chanel Mat Lumi
ére at 8pm.
You can see that my skin is still looking alright, and that’s 14 hours after I first applied my foundation! I find that the Guerlain sticks around till about 3pm, but then goes a bit patchy; that’s still a good 9 hours of staying power but it’s just not working out with my new London girl lifestyle 😉 I do tend to set the Chanel Mat Lumiére lightly over my T-zone in the morning with my MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural, but I don’t bother touching up at all during the day. The fact that this stuff is so long-lasting, means that it is a bit of a beyatch to remove, but it’s easy work for the bloody amazing Liz Earle Cleanse + Polish, that stuff never fails to disappoint!
So there you have it, the Chanel Mat Lumiére has officially overtaken Guerlain Lingerie De Peau in the Numero Uno foundation stakes! I am even considering a purchase of the lighter shade 30 for the cooler months as shade 40 is DEFINITELY more of a summer colour.
There is only one question left then – what is your Number 1 Foundation?
