I haven’t really had a beauty set-up since our old flat where I had that IKEA big-ass drawer number. Remember that? Unfortunately it was a little large for our new bedroom and ever since we moved I’ve been keeping my everyday makeup in a bag stuffed into a drawer and then emptying it out on the floor whenever I wanted to apply it. Great for when I want to do my makeup in my pants and nothing else as the neighbours can’t see in, but not so fab when it comes to ease of application/keeping the carpet a foundation-free zone.
I’d been looking for a console and stool for yonks, but I didn’t want anything made from wood as there is already a lot of wood going on in the bedroom (nope, nope, nope – get your minds out of the gutter people!) and metal/glass combos are hard to come by, so when I spotted this number on Oliver Bonas I don’t think I’ve ever got out my tape measure and card details so quickly. This Midnight Hudson Pouffe was just the right height and added a bit of colour to things, so I snapped that up too. Finally somewhere to sit! I felt well glam the first time I used it and being right in front of the window has meant that people no longer need to wear sunglasses when looking at my face due to excessive highlighter application.
Now there were a few tweaks that I performed – yep I got my DIY on! – but I mention those in the video above, along with a mini tour of my everyday beauty stash (though if you want to see that in more depth, then check out yesterday’s post). The only downside is that now I have to wear clothes when I do my makeup because I’m in a prime neighbour spotting spot. Boo.
