Monday morning has arrived and it’s time to get out of those PJ’s, drop off the empty Quality Streets tin in the recycling on your way out and head back to work. I look forward to the onslaught of meme’s on my Instagram feed this morning of puppies looking all sleepy and sad (I secretly look forward to those every Monday morning and then the happy ones of puppies wearing party hats and smiling come Friday – just me? OK). To make this AM a little easier I’ve thrown together a makeup edit that I crack out whenever I need to look polished and more awake, which is basically everyday. It’s actually pretty similar to the ‘Fresh & Dewy’ look I popped up yesterday, but think a slightly lower coverage base and a peachier cheek…
You know that Estée Lauder Revitalising CC Creme that I raved about late last year? Well, it’s almost used up. It’s doing that thing where it’s puffing out more air than product and you know deep down that a repurchase is imminent. I don’t love the whole CC bumf, but I do love the kick up the rear it gives my complexion. It just looks like I’m having a good skin day – everyday – adding a hint of coverage, with a warmth that looks sun kissed, not orange. I’m going to start with that and then pop the Maybelline Instant Anti-Age The Eraser Concealer in Light on the obvious areas. I’m late to the party with this one but it gives a soft finish that leaves behind a nice amount of pigment for disguising bags and blemishes. For face I’ll finish that off with the Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzing Powder in Terra Sun; firstly hitting the golden part for a double whammy of contour and bronzer and then loading up with the peach powder to act as a blusher.
I’m having a bit of a shimmery shadow moment right now, so after tending to my brows with the Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in Sepia (TRUST – it really is effortless), I’m going in with the NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Dionne, which looks pretty pale in the pan, but transfers onto the lid in a metallic, but not too OTT golden way. To make myself look more awake out comes the Charlotte Tilbury Rock ‘n’ Kohl Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil in Eye Cheat, a nude coloured pencil that when drawn on to the lower waterline makes you look bright eyed and bushy tailed, especially when paired with a mascara that makes your lashes all fluttery like the Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara.
Ain’t nobody got time for touch-ups today so I’m plumping for a low-maintenance lip and I reckon you can’t go wrong with a good ol’ coral gloss. Tanya Burr’s Lipgloss in I Found Nemo is my current favourite and I promise it’s not just because of the name; a pigmented, peach gloss that’s actually pretty opaque without being too thick in consistency.
So – happy Monday all! Bring on the meme’s….
