I ditched powder a few months ago now. My MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural was no longer cutting it. Its made my base look heavy, too matte and it gave me an all round cake-face – yack! My skin is still normal/combination so I do get the odd oily area here and there by now I just mop it up with some blotting tissues (the Boscia Green Tea ones are amazing) and then dab some Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer on the area if needed to matte it down slightly. This week I’ve gone back to basics with my makeup, no eyeshadow here today, so let me tell you what I’ve had slapped on my face recently.
My all time favourite foundation is still the Jemma Kidd Light As Air, however when I’m having a lazy day or fancy a lighter coverage, the Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser in Sand is my go to product. I don’t think I can rave about this enough, if you usually prefer fuller coverage foundations but want to give a tinted moisturiser a go then this a perfect ‘transition’ product for you. For my undereyes I have sidelined my usual Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and swapped it for the By Terry Touche Veloutee in Beige. I feel another rave coming on here! As much as I love the Bobbi Brown the By Terry gives great coverage under the eyes and feels much lighter on the skin; it’s also got a subtle highlighting effect, nothing too Twilight-esque but dark circle covering. My eyelashes are a mix of Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara (but on my top lashes) and eyelash extensions which I will be doing a full review of soon. This week I’ve kept my cheeks simple, skipping blush as my skin has been a little redder recently and just going for bronzer and highlight. For bronzer it’s always my NARS Laguna. I’m nearly the ‘shattering’ stage that this tends to go through once you hit pan and I’m not looking forward to it. Then for cheeks I’ve rediscovered a product that I haven’t used for a few months, the Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Creme in Ice Gold. This stuff is amazing – heck, you see the glow in the picture? I run this over my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on my cupids bow with a MAC 188 Brush. Dewy complexion heaven! MAC Hue on the lips – god isn’t this starting to sound repetitive – and then I’m good to go!
I’ve actually rediscovered quite a few products recently that were hidden in the depths of my drawers, would you guys like to see a ‘Shopping My Stash’ video? Let me know!
